I highly recommend swapping out your rag-joint set-up for a Cherokee XJ shaft swap. I chimed in on pg.2: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=505196&page=3
Here’s a pic of the steering shaft I built. stainless 3/4”DD and powder coated 1”DD shafts. Used Borgenson stainless u-joints with the lower having the rubber dampener

Looks clean. Hard to beat a clean satin black/SS combo.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Great Build! Im trying to get motivate on my 86 right now. Im currently working on my mopar. Im a huge fan of Tamco products, been using them for 5/6 years now. My challenger is ground up Tamco, and has been painted for two years now. Still looks like the day it was shot.

Like many have said before, killer build, and Im looking forward to watching it come together.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Here's a few pics of the build, going to try to find time to give updates every couple days. Holley LT mid-mount accessory drive looks right at home. using a 87 R10 hanger I added a Walbro 255 pump along with a Holley Hydramat. I'll be using dual tanks that aren't baffled from Holley, they come silver but I went ahead and painted them again and used a flat clear to finish them off.

Engine bay looking more complete, inside of bed panels stripped down from having bedliner spray for years and last is some of the hardware back from zinc plating.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

I've done a few l83 swaps and drive my 87 gen 5 swap a few times week and daum fun. If you dont have a high hump trans tunnel, you will need one.. the 6l80 is not going to fit a low hump tunnel. See my build thread in the ls swap sectupn

Hey Luke, would you want to sell your old bed floor? I’m working on mine as we speak and my bed floor needs some repair. I was going to line it anyway, so thought I’d see if you wanted to part with your old one. I’m in Bowling Green, so local to you. Crazy to see the transformation that you’re going through on this truck. I’ve seen it around town over the years and always thought it looked great. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks Luke, I appreciate it. I’ve been so off again/on again with mine that I haven’t kept my eyes open for certain stuff and I seem to miss out. Your truck is looking great, keep up the good work!

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Vibro Solutions 2MM damping material installed, they offer kits that work well with the C10. i had enough to cover firewall, floor, back of cab, roof and inside of the doors. Top layer is Vibro Solutions 6MM foam to finish it off.

Lee Power Steering box, I have installed 4 this year on other builds, highly recommend. Belltech sway bars, springs and shocks will be used on this build.

Looks like it’s coming along great. I’m anxious to see it completed. Is that Coy’s vette in the background?

Did you have to mod the trans tunnel to fit the transmission?

Roaddog, he posted back in post #33 that he raised his trans tunnel to make it fit, but I’m not sure how much he raised it. I’m currently working on a 6.0/6L90 combo and had to do the same. I cut out the low section and raised it similar to what a “high hump” 4wd trans tunnel would be. I’m hoping this way I can run factory replacement high hump carpet.

I did, you could probably get it to fit without doing so if you don't mind to sit the engine high and have 6 degrees or so in it. I prefer a low sitting engine and trans above the frame if possible.

Dashes Direct seat foam and a new OE style seat cover complete, I'm really impressed with the seat foam.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

I went ahead a made a new fan shroud to go with the Dewitts radiator. I wanted use a certain style of Spal fans and also so I could mount the shroud to the factory top radiator plate.
