Off-road Carnage

Best break - worst break kinda post.

What broke and how was it repaired?

What broke and where did it leave ya?

My latest and to date biggest break.

Busted the drivers side Dana 60 knuckle clean off while wheeling @ Rausch Creek.
We were WAY back into the park...of course.

Turned out decent for the kind of break it was.
Having an impact gun helped like you wouldn't believe.

It was the weekend of WEROCK and for kicks we called the office and asked if they could check and find out if a vendor at the event might have the part.
(long shot for sure)
SUCCESS! Extreme Axle Sales sold me a used one for only $80 bucks!

Went from screwed to wheeling again in just over 2 hours.

I don't have any that I took but here's a couple from CK5.
No one really got any "good" ones while it was happening, we were all doing the scatter thing!

The first one is 'mid flight' on the way back over.

Re: Off-road Carnage

That's quite a break on your Dana 60. Were the people in the stepside okay other than being a little dazed?

Re: Off-road Carnage

Doug's a cool dude.

I've broken two Ford knuckles like that.

Locked up ARB, hydro high steering and some big rocks.

Went to Chevy knuckles. They seem to be a bit stronger.

If I do it again, it will be Reider Racing knuckles.

Yeha he was fine, luckily the little girl wasn't in the truck. Probably would have scared her real bad. I missed the whole thing, we broke rite away, and lost the group. I saw the aftermath back at camp. No roll bar!!! J.

Don't you loose the dual piston calipers going to chevy outters/brakes?

Why Reider? What's wrong with the Dedenbears?

Reider Racing IS Dedenbear, they changed their name about a year ago.

http://www.reidracing.biz/DANA60.php

You do lose the dual piston calipers, but maintain the same flow to the pistons.

Re: Off-road Carnage

I wouldnt call this a "worse break" but this one is weird: I had all but one rivet sheer off on the driverside front front leaf spring mounting "bucket"/body mount. When you turned the steering wheel back and forth the 'bucket" would just pivot on the frame so the truck wouldnt steer at all.

I just pulled some bolts out of my roll bar mount to bolt the "bucket" back to the frame just to nurse it home.
