Rough and Tumble... Lucy. 68 GMC

Out of necessity, I picked up a 68 GMC truck a few days ago.

It's got a 292 six banger, 4 speed, and some rust, etc. Also found a build sheet in great condition, as well as the POP plate, and manuals, in the glovebox.

I'm anticipating just keeping Lucy for the next month or few until my daily driver is out of the body shop (deer trauma) and/or until my 56 F100 is drive-able.

Lucy was found locally, on a farm. She's had a rough life of pulling farm equipment, and feeding cows.

My wife named the truck Lucy. I've never named any of my other cars, (except for yelling the occasional (you PIECE OF S%^T!) But my wife is in love with the bizarre combination of butter yellow paint, and green/teal interior. She says it reminds her of old fashion, ie, Lucille Ball.

Here she is, as soon as I got her home; She is still sporting the headache rack, a thick layer of dirt/cobwebs, and some craptastic wheels.

thanks,
Mike

Re: Rough and Tumble... Lucy. 68 GMC

So without much delay, (the next day) I located (drove her on a maiden voyage of 3.5hours EACH way) and picked up some new-to-her wheels and tires.
Removed the headache rack, pressure washed her, etc:

She is still sporting the headache rack, a thick layer of dirt/cobwebs, and some craptastic wheels.

And I'm thinking that for such a low initial investment... I did alright!

Looks like a pretty solid truck and those 292's are nice! Already looking a lot better!

Thanks! I threw the slew of basic tuneup parts at her today, and that lil motor is purring even smoother.

I'm looking to replace the rusted off muffler, mirrors, etc tomorrow.
The cab corners, etc are decent.. but there's a lot of nastiness (read-big hole) in the door jamb above the driver's side door.
