Starting it without the U connector

Is it ok to start the truck up without the U connector from the column hooked up? I got a new turn signal switch on order but I want to hear it run

Thanks

Re: Starting it without the U connector

you'll have no horn, turn signals and no brake lights.
Otherwise, you'd never know.
