Question Question

I'm fixing to install 6 way electric seats /heated in my 71 truck.

My question:
I have the power cable run to the amp under my seat now. I was wondering if I could tie into this cable at the power block by the speakers and run the seats with no problems with the speakers.

I need a hot wire for the seat and since it's already back there I thought why not. What do you think guy's Good/Bad idea?

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Question

I don't see why this would be terrible, but I suppose it could lead to having feedback or noise in your stereo that you wouldn't want. I ultimately opted to just run new wires back for mine.

After think about it more I think I will have to run new wiring. My plan is to have them shut off when the key switch is turned off so that being said I will have to put it on a switched wire. I also plan to run the ground through the seat belt buckle so if the truck is running and you unbuckle the seat belt it will shut off to.

Drivers side is in. I ran a switched hot and had to rethink the ground. It didn't work through the seat belt. The switch is for a buzzer so when it was buckled it was off when you unbuckled it came on. LOL... So I just have the normal ground right now.

Re: Question

Andy,
After reading is I'm glad you decided to run a new wire separate for the seats. I am fairly certain you would hear the seat motor in the speakers when you operated the adjusters. It's like having you home computer plugged into the same plug as your paper shredder. If your listening to music, it shrieks the shredder sound through the speakers.
Good luck on the other side.

Cool Re: Question

I ran a hot fused wire to the back of the cab and mounted a 6 way fuse panel on the side of my sub box.

I then ran the electric seat wire from there to each seat. Each seat has it's own wiring harnes with relay's. The grounds both run through the seat belt buckles so if you un buckle your seat belt the heaters will turn off. I've had it hooked up for a month so far and no problems at all.

What seats are you using? You've always had a nice truck.
