1995 S10 Blazer remote oil filter lines leaking

I have a 1995 Blazer with remote oil filter line leaks. They appear to be leaking in the area of the oil filter base at the rubber part of the lines. Anybody dealt with this problem? Not sure what I'm in for! Right now it will leave a spot the size of a quarter at work. Oil always checks full. I'm afraid the lines my at sometime blow. My ZR2 does not have this problem yet, but I've been told it's likely due to poor design. Any help is appreciated.

I've got to get my blazer and ZR2 pickup well so that I can get back to work on my '71 and '68 pickups!
Thanks,

Eddie

You can buy an oil ring kit to install. Sometimes the adaptor for the lines gets loose. On your next oil change. Try to tighten up the adaptor. You'll need a large hex socket.

nope, your lines are leaking.

unless you are psychic and can predict when and where they will blow you should replace them soon. (they WILL blow, I've replaced 3 engines because customers decided to not believe me)
they are available from Dorman which is available at most any parts store. replace the quick connect fittings as well.

Looks to me like the lines are leaking where the metal is crimped with the rubber. I think I would feel better about just replacing them. Looks like a p.i.t.a!

Thanks

Yea, if they leak at crimps replace them. I did mine not too long ago. Routing to the engine bay is a PIA.

Re: 1995 S10 Blazer remote oil filter lines leaking

Any of you ever have any difficulties with the seals leaking? I can see that the lines from my motor to the filter bracket, are leaking where the aluminum termination meets the flat surface of the filter bracket. There is NO leakage from the line itself.

I had a second set of the gaskets, from the local dealership parts counter, on there to replace the OE, and they started leaking soon after install. Removal of those last time I did an oil change found them to be all cracked and torn. Currently I have some 'generic' seals I got at O'Reilly's on there. They were great for a week, and then the oil leak was back.

Any tricks I can throw at these? I was thinking maybe adding some RTV on each side of the seal, and letting that set up a bit before bolting things back together? I'm tired of oil puddles everywhere I park.

The connection at the bracket coming from the cooler/radiator is fine, not a drip coming out there, either. Everything I see appears to be coming out at the filter and/or the connection with the lines to the motor. My frustration level is getting kind of high on this one.

Here is a link to what I did with mine: it really works. The pics are gone, but the narrative is great. It is really easy once you form a mental picture. Read past all the comments, the S10 forum is full of excellent information and cool fixes.

Re: 1995 S10 Blazer remote oil filter lines leaking

updateing with my own personal observations.

Dorman lines are worth less that the bag they come in. 7 months and less than 3000 miles and a customer lost 4 quarts of oil. The rubber cracked severely in the middle of the hoses between the engine and filter. It looks worse than the fuel hoses that were under my 68's cab for 40 years.
