1971 Camaro RS

I built this car a couple of years ago. I had been searching for one after trading my high school 72 RS off for Corvette parts in 2003 or 4 or so. A friend of mine had this car setting in a barn for 10 years. He purchased it from Arizona where it had been setting in the desert area for another 20 years or more. All the rubber was toast as well as the interior. It originally was mulsane blue with a white top, 307 powerglide. It had a 350 in it with 2 dead holes when he got it.

I went back and forth with it wen I first got it because my old one had a BBC. I finally went LS. I put a 5.3 in it with a Borg Warner Super T10. The 5.3 has a BTR Stage 3 cam, and I shaved and smoothed the truck intake. I tried making the engine look old school. I set the car up to go auto crossing if I'd like to and take corners around here the fun way.

Re: 1971 Camaro RS

I dumped way more money in the car than I figured I would. It has custom works performance 4g suspension, SPC adjustable upper control arms, delrin bushed lower UCA's, delrin rear shackle bushings, solid body mounts, welded in subframe connectors, vintage air, LED lights through out, AAW upgrade harness, big brakes in the front, upgraded it to power brakes, switched it over to a 4 speed, 2012 Camaro console, 92 Firebird seats, and more. I tried to build it on a budget but one thing led to another.

Beautiful. That body style is just barely nudged out as my favorite by the 67/68 models. The early second gen bodies with the chrome bumpers just have a sexy look to them.

Very cool. Similar to the 73 Z28 LS swapped I built a number of years ago. Was a great car. Kind of semi Pro-Touring. It had a L92 dressed like a LS3. Small cam. TKO 600.
