we used the ls3 for a different build but dont fret, this truck is getting a LS6 build; new old stock 5.3 iron block bored to ls1/ls6 specs, new gmpp ls9 forged crank, new gmpp ls9 forged rods, new king main and rod bearings, new gmpp ls6 pistons, new mahle rings, new gmpp ls7 lifters, new old stock gmpp 243 ls6 ported and polished heads, new gmpp C7R road race cam, arp main studs, arp head studs, arp rod bolts, every fastener on and in engine is arp, new ls6 oil pump ported, new truck pan pickup tube and windage tray. new 409 stainless obxR headers, ict billet valley plate, ict billet oil pan level billet plug, new edlebrock performer rpm intake, new holley 650 carb, new msd ignition controller, etc etc etc.

sounds like a good swap. i was going to do a ls4/80e/205 and have another ls3/4l80e waiting on the shelf. at this moment i dont want to revamp the entire fuel system, do the wiring, and have the truck down for more time. so for now, its the ls6 with carb, th400, np205. and maybe i will prep the ls3 and 4l80e wiring, and have a tank already done with intank pump and all ready and waiting before i remove this setup later. that way the truck isnt down for long periods of time. at this point i want to drive it and enjoy it. but enjoy yours for the both of us with the overdrive lol. at this time its not in the cards for me. tooo busy

on a side note, with the dana60 front axle, 14bolt ff rear axle, both with lockers, th400, np205. and ls6 with minimal wiring and a carb, this truck makes a good SHTF truck.

I hear ya on the time. Just finished a lq4 /4L80 swap and kept it injected. Took me nearly 2 weeks of 12 hour days. The fuel tank was my biggest struggle. If i was to do another suburban of this era I would buy the ECE tank.
