I gave $3800 for mine in 85 which is probably about what it cost new. I spent around $6000 on it since then so I am around the magic $10,000 mark.

Tom, you've got one nice truck. Is this the same one with the black/houndstooth/bucket/console interior? For $10,000 that thing is a bargain.

Re: How much do you have invested??

WOW!! Congratulations KevsClassics for reviving a 7 year old thread. You must have been digging deep for info. when you found it. It is amazing how few of the members who originally posted are still active on this sight. Some of them were up there in post counts too. I guess they got rid of their trucks or got tired of talking about them.

I guess I will play along. I paid $1,750 for my 72 suburban back in October of 2008. Since then I have put about another $800 into it to get it driveable and street legal, for a grand total of about $2,550.

You say Poured like it's a bad thing. Think of it as preserving. Much like the investment you make in your lady. Not sure exactly how much I've put in to her, probably somewhere around $6,000, but with all the therapy, father-son-time, and satisfaction of knowing I did all the rebuild/repair/replacements myself, I couldn't begin to put a dollar figure on that. Everyone has their passion. Cnut

Re: How much do you have invested??

Some where around $50,000 but that includes a trailer and all the tools I had to buy to work on it. Also two parts trucks.

Re: How much do you have invested??

In the C20, about $1500 Including purchase price. Still needs a lot, but it runs and drives for that price. How did Kev's Classics find this 7 y/o thread, anyways??

Re: How much do you have invested??

1k purchase price 1k suspension another 2k motor tranny gas tank etc 1k for some body work that is going to cost me 800 to take back down and start over with a better body man. So about 5000 right now. I expect to triple that by the time that I am done

Re: How much do you have invested??

Well, the first go around when I built the truck I had around 10 grand total in it, that was in my opinion a half a$$ job. This time i'm doing a frame off and a 4x4 conversion. I don't wanna think how much I will have invested in it total

Re: How much do you have invested??

Good thread BTW

I did some quick adding of the purchase price, suspension, engine, trans, interior, paint (garage job) misc parts added up to around 7K. I shop around and scour junkyards for parts so I have saved countless cash just doing that. I don't think I bought anything brand new for this truck, minus the ECE suspension (plus related parts) and the engine, which was rebuilt but I did buy aftermarket heads for it new. Oh, and the weatherstripping and carpet.

Seems to me I had more into it, but who cares it's a nice driver and very rewarding to work on and drive.
