He's reserving the post so people asking questions don't post in the middle of his FAQ (which is where it's going when it's done).

I will be watching for updates, My truck is at a performance shop. Never got it running right from the time of install so I had no choice but to leave it sit for a while. They found that there was a compression leak in one of the cylinder's. I also used a camaro 4l60e which I didn't realize had there would be a problem with the connection. The Pins are not the same. Also there are some problems with the wiring eventhough I had it re-worked. All I see is $$$$. Hopefully others have better luck.

Re: If you want to do a 5.3/4L60E install, lots of pictures and info.

Thanks for starting this one, Rob, it was long overdue. I'll chip in what I can where I can. As a point of note, the reference pages in the LS1tech Conversions and Hybrids FAQ thread will be a point of note.

The only crappy part is trying to decide what is myth and what is not - - classic example: Whether you need to bother routing the steam line to something, whether it needs to dump into the radiator or water pump ABOVE the exit point near the heads, etc.

I'll send you some content if I can find the time to type it.

Re: If you want to do a 5.3/4L60E install, lots of pictures and info.

When I did my GenIII/4L60E swap It almost looked like i could use the stock linkage if I would have moved it back a bit. Mine was worn pretty well so I got a Lokar piece to run directly from the column linkage to the arm on the trans. It's adjustable so I adjusted it so 4th is on the "D" Works good if it's adjusted correctly- and thats not hard. And yes- you can manually downshift to 1st w/ stock 3 spd linkage and a 4L60...

This will probably be mentioned, but the differences between TAC and cable operated throttle bodies. Are you going to include what ckts should be removed if your doing your own wiring? This would be difficult due to all the different pinout combinations. Great idea on this thread

It would be really cool if '68 short step' could chime in on that one. He is probably one of the only guys who I've seen that was brave enough to consistently hack his own harnesses.

I've already hacked the harness. I'm just trying to settle in on what fuse block to use. I would prefer to work my own harness because the Computer can do more than just rust run the engine. I also can locate the computer anywhere I want.

there are 2 versions on how the throttle bodies operate...
1) cable driven throttle body, with this style the TPS (throttle position sensor) and the IAC (idol air controler) are located on the throttle body...
2) electric throttle bodies, this operates usesing a electric pedal (the pedal contains the IAC (perse') and the TPS...also a FYI on a electric throttle body the TPS=APP accelarater position sensor....
thangs that needs removed on the PCM is VATS (vehicle anti theft system) for sure.. on a side note you can build a vats by-pass box on the cars PCM but NOT on trucks/suvs PCM...
circuits that I remove and most conversion people do too are
1) EVAP
2) rear o2 sensors
3) fuel press sensor

Re: If you want to do a 5.3/4L60E install, lots of pictures and info.

S&P (hotrodlane.cc) makes a tailshaft conversion so you can use a cable driven speedo, but it's like $500! Someone else- dont remember who- makes a box that converts your output on your trans to an output for a speedo cable- they're like $300. I plan on getting one of these but just havent done it yet. I'll get back to you when i find out who it is. I have the info on it at home... at work now.

It would be great if Rob is going to put in the part numbers of the adapters to make the power steering hoses connect to the gear box.

The stock 68-72 low pressure line will work as-is. If you take the stock high pressure side for the new engine, and have a hydraulic shop properly splice it into the stock 68-72 high pressure line (the gearbox end), you've got all the hoses you need. No point in spending money on special fittings unless you're going braided.

Thanks shifty. I've heared another myth that the genIII pump makes more pressure causing the gear box to leak. Lets see if someone can dispell that one.

I think i seen where BustedTruck posted a reply on another thread where it gave all the pin/wire locations and descriptions... if that could be sourced and put up, that'd help I'm sure.
