Goodmark quality issues

I bought two Goodmark complete doors and two front fenders for my '68. The fenders are fine...but the doors are laughable...my metal guy says he'll have to pie cut the passenger side...and massage the entire window surround for the drivers side. I paid $284 per door...opting for the "better Qulaity"

I wonder just how bad the lesser quality ones are. Anybody have any similar problems? I thought these guys sold good stuff.

I totally trust my fabricator...he's honest and very talented so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.

Has anybody else had to do "custom" doors?

Thanks. Tom

Re: Goodmark quality issues

I did, same kind of situation. Also. the goodmark was about 15lbs. or so lighter. If I ever do it again, GM sheetmetal is the way I'm going.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

I have been complaining about the doors for 6 or 7 years now. Triplus has better doors but they have their own issues too. Like the gap for the roll up windows. I guess given the choice, triplus has less issues so that is what I would go with. WES

Re: Goodmark quality issues

Scrap them and have a set of OEM doors fixed. Seriously. My truck has goodmark (tri-plus) doors. I am NOT happy with them at all. I WILL be putting the factory doors back on the truck some day. I shut the PS door too hard and I bent the (insert really bad words here) handle into the damn door. You want to talk about pissed off. Toss em, sell em, whatever, just put OEM doors back on or you'll never be happy.

I AM happy with my Tri-Plus front fenders. A little tweaking was all that was needed and "thick" metal.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

You should be able to return the doors, then my advice is to re-skin some decent door shells; that's what I just did for my Blazer. The skins are still thinner than original, but...
If you have to use the badmark doors, as I have in the past, I was able to drill the welds on the window frame-reposition-re-weld and the fit was, umm, better.
Good luck.

I had the exact same issues and had the same thing done by the body guy. To both doors, also the gap to the window. Still dont know how to fix this. Dukes of Hazzard style maybe???

If you're looking for stepside bed sides, Mar-K is what I used and they were exact replicas of GM. They were excellent, But you have to put reinforcement where the taillights and reverse lights mount.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

There aren`t any issues with the bed sheet metal. It`s best going all new, though. The problems with the doors vary, too,as mentioned. The Tri-Plus are tolerable. That`s what most vendors carry, just ask.Goodmark doesn`t use Tri-Plus any more.

If you purchased them from "Car and Truck Shop" then you will probably have to send them back truck freight on your nickle... WES

Re: Goodmark quality issues

The Goodmark hood was a joke too. They make truly crappy parts. Wish I had known before dropping all my money into them. What a joke. Badmark is a better name for them. Two grand in parts and another $1000 to make the remotely usable. Go original and re-skin or you'll be sorry.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

It was suggested to me that the issue with aftermarket doors is the window frame (curve) not fitting properly in the cab door frame. Which causes massive fitment problems. So a shade tree theroy would be to remove the AM window frame and install a OE window frame. First, ensure the bottom fitment (good sheetmetal) and then set/tach the OE window frame next. Maybe some one could try this... I haven't had to venture down this road- yet.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

Now Rob, You did not listen to what I said they are four different door tools on the market. We actually have two in our warehouse one labeled Tri-Plus which they are issues with and the other one we carry which is labeled Key Parts which is a new tooling that look better and fit great. They are none of the others that has been fixed that I am aware of. Thanks Tim

Re: Goodmark quality issues

Its way too easy to find useable OEM doors even up here in the GNW....

I used all OEM parts on Screamin, tried an aftermarket fender and it would not even bolt up..... lesson learned.

The PO of 'Boo our 67 Chevelle used aftermarket patch panels on the quarters, and they fit like a$$, gonna be alot of massaging to get them to look right.... Again, lesson learned

Re: Goodmark quality issues

I bought a fender patch panel from Goodmark. It was laughable. There is a distinct ridge in the factory wheel arch that they didn't even attempt to duplicate. I've seen other aftermarket parts with this ridge, so you can't use the "its repop" excuse.

Re: Goodmark quality issues

Bought replacement bedsides from Wes at classic heartbeat. Not sure where he orders his parts. Only time i have ever decided to use repop panels and the same original tailgate lines up better now than when the originals were on the truck and all my moldings line up very nice. I am still sceptical of repop stuff but i got real lucky with those.
