Old Red getting new shoes

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new set of wheels for my 68 Fleet at the Street Rod Nationals last weekend. Billet Specialties had a show special on their Legend Series and I got free shipping and no tax to boot. They arrived today and I'm stoked! Now to find tires so I can get these beauties mounted up. Oh by the way they're 20's for the rear and 18's for the front.

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

I didn't know about these wheels. When I think Billet Spec I imaging wheels way out of my price range, but their site says ~$250/wheel in 20". Good price! They look like a more expensive wheel.

What is the suspension setup on your truck, and have you decided what tire size to go with? Can't wait to see them on the truck.
Edit: I see you have the same drop as me. 4.5/6.

Exhaust: 3" exhaust with x-pipe, Spintech 3000 mufflers, Hooker ceramic coated headers. Best 1/4 mile time: TBD.

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

I bought 18x8's for the front and 20x8 1/2's for the rear. Couldn't get a 10" under the rear, limited back spacing on their cast wheels. I'm still shopping for tires, it's hard to find them with any side wall. Price shipped to me was $828. Thanks for the thumbs up on my choice. I'll post pics as soon as I get tires and wheels mounted on the truck. Oh and by the way the fronts have 5 1/4" back space and the rears are 4 3/4" back space.

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

Nice wheels! Those will look rad! I went 18’s/20’s on my ‘62 Impala, I think the look is perfect. My only gripe was the short sidewall tires available for 20’s. I’d say go for the tallest wall you can fit...

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

You're right about not many choices for the 20's. I am going with 235/50 18's and 255/45/20's. That'll give me 4.6" side wall on both. I'd like to run a fatter rear but with a 8 1/2" rim it's slim pickens.

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

Well boys and girls I got my tires yesterday and had them mounted and balanced this morning. Just got them installed about an hour ago and am very happy with the results. Of course after getting them on I'm thinking I might could've got that 10"rim to fit on the rear but it would of been close. Any way here are a couple of pics, one with the rallys and two with the new Legends Speedways. And as luck would have it it started pouring rain so I couldn't go for a drive!

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

Very nice. Truck looked good with the ralleys but it really pops with the new wheels.

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

Looks great. I'm sure curious how it'd look at your previously lower stance.
How does the ride compare with the shorter sidewall?

Re: Old Red getting new shoes

I'm tempted to go back to the 5 1/2, 7" drop, I think it would look killer but I drive the truck a lot and I've got to be realistic. Rained on my parade yesterday so I haven't had the chance to check ride quality.
