Re: My "garage" find

It's fairly unusual to see AC on an otherwise basic truck. Is AC listed on the glovebox? I think AC could be dealer installed for some years.

Nice looking truck ya got there. Is the color listed as medium gold or saddle on the sticker in the glove box?

Re: My "garage" find

Got the gas tank cleaned out. Holy mess!

Rebuilding the carb now. Had a ton of crap in it as well.

Its sad when the carb dip costs more than the rebuild kit!!!

The AC could be the reason the truck didn't sell right away. Buyers may have come and said "$3000 FOR A PICKUP TRUCK, YOU'RE CRAZY!"

Re: My "garage" find

Finally got this truck running good. Ended up replacing the fuel pump due to mess in the fuel tank but it's pumping clear. Made a trip to Home Depot and took it over 60mph. The stock 307 leaves something to be desired for sure! A few more tweaks here and there it will be good to go.......after winter that is!

Re: My "garage" find

What a great truck. I have a 69 short step that only has 69,000 miles on it, but it's not as clean as yours. Mine is a 307 as well and it does surprisingly well in day to day driving as long as it's not loaded. I pulled 3000# of decomposed granite behind it last month and that will show you just how underpowered the 307 is!

Re: My "garage" find

I was messing around with my super high quality (cheapest I could find) fuel sender last night and had the seat out. Figured I would take a picture of the build sheet. It looks like my truck was a "customer order" from our local Chevrolet dealer at the time. I have no clue what all of it means but thought some of you may enjoy the picture.

That is really cool, that it is in tact. Most are crumbled messes. You should carefully remove it, and preserve it before it does deteriorate.

Never thought of pulling it out but I guess I should. There are actually three of them that came with the truck and all are in that good of shape.

Re: My "garage" find

That's very rare to find such a survivor! My truck has a car version of the 307, it does show it's weakness going uphill, when someone slows you down. I have the 4 speed, and dual exhaust.
