Problem is, the real life Centerlines don't look like that in the bigger sizes.
Is that a photoshop? If not they look good. I would run a little more sidewall, but that's just me. If you are looking for a real old school feel, slots are the way to go.

Yeah not ready to get rid of them yet, they're driver quality. If I ever do, I'll let you know though.

Thank you, the color is what made them to good to pass up. No not yet, the truck is currently in the body shop getting the cab corner replaced.

I don't have the seat mount's for them though, so gonna have to figure something out.

This is a photoshop unfortunately. The real rims in larger diameter don't stay proportionate to the 15" rim, which is a shame really.

I've been seeing slots in larger diameters now, that could be an option down the road.

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Well been getting some crazy thoughts, and need to work on this before I end up getting rid of everything.

Any ideas as far as headers and what to run for the fuel system fellas?

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Well my brother helped me get the front clip off the truck. Still need to figure out what I'm going to do for the fuel system. Also need to look into the process of switching out the electric throttle body to the previous throttle cable style. SO much easier to work on the truck now, I'm excited and the truck has not fought me at all except for one bolt that will not budge.

Cool Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

There'll always be one that won't move. All I have left on the frame is the train and the bed, there was one bolt on the passenger's side core support to the fender that I wound up grinding off.

Your progress is about the same speed as mine. I haven't even started on the motor yet.

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Yeah, this one was the passenger side bumper bracket -to- frame bolt. You can see that sucker still stuck on there in the pic

I'm getting close to vacations from work. Hopefully it'll go a little faster this Summer.

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Thanks.

You know, I have been contemplating the idea now that the motor is about to be pulled, but still haven't decided. If I do, it won't lay one the floor........ I think.

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

These are the adapter plates I picked up for the engine, pretty neat since they allow the engine to be moved forward or backward helping with clearance issues.

Anyhow I ran into a small problem, since the OG engine was a straight 6 the brackets that attach the block to the motor mount are almost vertical and won't work with the lq4.

I'm thinking these are pretty much the same thing as the stock ones. Can anybody confirm?

Motor brackets didn't come close to fitting, scored these off a centerbolt 350:

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Jesus! I had never had such a hard time degreasing anything. These things were bad! Went though a whole can of engine degreaser with minimal effect.

The scraper wasn't doing much, so I slapped a wire wheel on a drill and knocked all the crap off:

I got a little excited and gave them a couple of coats of paint.........should have test fitted them first:

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Turns out the raised portion didn't allow the adapter plate to sit flush with the bolt holes. I wasn't about to go back to a scour junkyards at 105+ degree weather. This was the excellent excuse for POWER TOOLS!!

Took the grinder to the motor brackets and grinded it it down. They work now!

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

The motor is already out:

Contemplating going with a Porterbuilt Dropmember now, or just investing the money in other parts of the truck. Primarily paint since this one is thinned down to the primer in a few places. Decisions, decisions.

Sorry for the late reply. I just bought the fuel cell brackets from Summit for $31.99

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

Ordered some Eastwood Chassis Paint, lets see how well it works.

Mailman delivered the manifolds today and picked up a set of new head gaskets for the engine (I want to take off the heads to give it an inspection)

Funny thing I wasn't about to pay 700 for a set of headers and I've heard f-body headers work fine but the collector has to be cut off and re-welded straight. I couldn't get my new welder to work at all, figured I was out of luck and went ahead and ordered the manifold instead.

3 days later.....wouldn't you know:

By the way. Hobart customer service is top notch!! It was determined that it was a faulty gun assembly. These guys stood behind they're product, didn't hassle me at all and sent me a new one express shipping!!

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

I also opted against the drop member and was actually moving away from bags all together but then I photoshopped this and now I'm not sure

Sorry Ken, but these rims are too cool!

Is there any doubt now? Get the D/M ordered and be done. The wheels look great on there too.

Re: "The Relapse" 78 Chevy Stepside

You were very convincing with that last post and your avatar pokes at my pride everytime you post here.

Stay tuned guys, this build is about to take a sharp right turn.

So I sold my 87 (with the 15x10 ) but now I got enough disposable income to do some damage

Porterbuilt Dropmember and Accuair are going to be ordered this week.

Also picked up some go fast goodies:
