I bought this truck recently. It has 2 in line fuel filters. One is glass and the other is plastic. Do I need these? I assume there is also a filter at the inlet to the carb. I read on this site that the glass ones can break and start a fire. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Great site!

I remove the inlet filter from the carb, because it's just too small, and use an inline filter from a newer fuel-injected engine. The housing is metal, the mesh is finer, and the capacity is so large you'll never have flow problems and it will last almost forever. Just look for something with inlet and outlet approx. the size of your fuel line.

I run a metal one under the cab, adn the class one on top.
While it is true that the glass ones can bust, if you set it up right, nothing will happen. i had a lady slam into my truck at about 70 MPH and that didn't shake it up enough.

I had a glass filter on mine on my way to a show. On the interstate, at speed, she broke, and, well, it really REALLY sucked after that, no fire thankfully, but my many hours of detailing under the hood was trashed and the truck smelled like gas for weeks. I now use a billet filter.
