Re: pics of members 4x4's

That thing looks like it is on stilts! With a 4" lift you need at LEAST a 33" tire. Here is mine with a 4" procomp lift with BFG 35's and stock wheels

That's why my truck is MY truck and your truck is YOUR truck. Is a 33" tire the required rule for what every truck should have with a 4" lift?

As I mentioned in the original post, I'm planning on 235/85/16 skinnies or maybe a 255/85/16 BFG MT.

Re: pics of members 4x4's

Don't get bent. You can do whatever you want. To answer your question no a 33" inch tire isn't required for a 4' lift for trucks. But is the minimum that MOST would go with to make the truck ride and look correctly. Perception is reality. But hey your ride/ your dollar. You either are wound way to tight or can't sense when someone is joking with you.

Wiggins your blazer looks awesome! Uber clean and rust free. You don't see many of those anymore in that shape.

I should have used more smilies and happy faces in my reply to "show" my sarcasm. My question didn't need answering. As far as what "most" would think looks "correct", it's all relative.

No hard feelings, dude. Your truck looks good with the 33s and 4" lift. I had a K5 with the same set-up and I loved it.

Re: pics of members 4x4's

yeah no worries. I run the BFG 35's with the pro-comp 4" lift and ORD front shackles and blocks in the back. I am having Alcan make me a set of custom 4" springs front and rear along with a ORD shackle flip for the rear and their HD rear shackle. The rear springs will probably only be stock height as the flip gives about 4" to the lift. I want to be able to flex as this is my hunting/shooting rig and want it to be capable and comfortable all the while still being able to haul stuff.

I like the big wide look on the 69 4x4 but my son wants the skinny tire look on his 66 4x4 project. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Thanks man. Its running w 110,000 original miles on its original running gear. Still all original sheetmetal except for the pass door. It was too beat up to fix. All I have done is paint it and all the basic maitanace mechanical stuff.

ORD is a great company. I've used them before and will continue to do so. I got the fronts from them. If you aren't partial to ORD, you may want to consider DIY4X4 for the rears. I bought a set of their rear shackles and was very impressed. Price was better and the shackles are heavier duty. Customer service is fantastic, too...

Here's my 86 K10 It's got a 77 454 rebuilt backed by an SM465 tranny and NP208 T-case. Tons of low end. Future plans are going to be a 4in lift and either 33s or 35s.

Wow that looks nice. Its refreshing to see a stock height clean example. Not that there is anything wrong with lifting just seems like there is hardlly any clean non lifted square bodies anymore.

Re: pics of members 4x4's

^^ I hear you. My '85 was unmolested and a bit different, too. My plan was to put 11.50/32s on steel 8"ers with hubcaps. That's the beefiest tire that works w/o a lift. It's what we did on my son's '86 CUCV Blazer and I put on my '90 Blazer when it was new. But I discovered how tires took a ridiculous jump on price and that most companies have dropped 11.50/32s. So I went with plan B and robbed the lift/axles/tires off my retired Suburban. Oh well...I'm guilty of ruining a bone stock Jimmy.

Now to put the soft top on. Next step will be winch/bumpers/spare mount. When it needs tires (or as a second set as soon as I can afford it) I'll get 255/85,mount on a set of stock 3/4t wheels I powder coated white, and pop hubcaps back on. It'll look beefy stock that way. I'll have my tall skinnies and this set for flotation.
