Questions of what fits.

I have a 98 c1500 with an aftermarket Pioneer reciever cd player. This has been in the last 4 vehicles I have owned and the radio is not working correctly anymore. I have an adaptor that mounts it in the stock bracket in the dash. My question is the stock radio was a lot bigger than the Pioneer so would a double din radio fit my dash without cutting things up.

Re: Questions of what fits.

The Pioneer is a single din radio approximately 2" high. Measure it for height. Now measure the original height of the original opening for the stock radio. If its double the size of the Pioneer then a Double din radio will fit. If its only half bigger then a din and one half will fit.

EDIT: I just checked Crutchfields and yours will fit a double din stereo.

Re: Questions of what fits.

Thanks for the info. I went shopping for a stereo this afternoon and found the double dims were pretty much touch screen and looked like they would be distracting for an old timer like me to operate. I ended up buying a Sony single dim unit that fits into the adaptor my Pioneer used. It has blue tooth and lots of other neat features that will take some studying for me to use. I never thought the bluetooth would be something I would want but I find myself using my phone while driving and find it does distract me. I am hoping the hands free and voice activated features will allow me to answer the phone with less distractions.

I just got through installing and it sounds pretty good even on the default settings. I will play around with it tomorrow.
