Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

quick60, posted this on the first page of this thread. Except for not being near as pretty and the only chrome is the pited door handles, my truck started out as a bare-bone 3/4 much like yours. I think there was no SPID because there was nothing to put on it. Love the Chrome grill, but mine will probably just get paint.

I will be painting it a '07-08 ford color called Creme' Brulee. One more job before I partially strip it down for paint. The old style saddle tanks will stay, but get gauge sending units and painted, flush mounted doors. The cab tank will go away.

Drove it 282 miles out to Palm Springs today. Ran it 65 to 75 mph the whole way with the AC blowing cool in low 90s weather. Managed 15.3 mpg. Could have been better, but I'll live with it.

Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

Here's my '72 K2500. 350/TH350, 4 inch lift. Original bronze color (at least, what's left of it). Got her in Nov 2014, and she's been my daily driver. Reliable as hell. PO replaced the rear DANA60 with a DANA70 from a 1ton, since its primary job was hauling firewood.

The bed and driver door are destroyed, I've got their replacements in my garage, slowly getting them into shape to put on her (hopefully later this year).

Half-way through putting new rims/tires on her. Couldn't find effective replacement rubber in 16.5, so I'm swapping the rims for Wheel Vintiques 16x10 steels. Tires are BFG TA KO2 315x75x16.

This December, I'll be rebuilding the front end, and hopefully pulling the old bed off and mounting a 30gal Suburban tank behind the rear axle.

She ain't much to look at, but she's got it where it counts.

My 70 the day I bought it. Still looks pretty much the same but I rebuilt the 350, did some wiring, radiator and about every other thing to make it reliable. I drive it every day

Re: lets see some 3/4 tons!!

My old gmc. Previous owner made it a short bed but it was all 3/4 ton running gear left under it. I loved the way it rode so much that after I sold it and decided to get another one it had to be a c20

It's a Gaylord Lid.

It looks good and it's convenient. But it's not my style. I don't have the $$$ to repaint the top of the bed where the paint's worn off, so for now it stays.
