Finally had to bite the bullet

My lifter issue came to a head a few weeks ago. I was heading to a meet and the cam went flat. I limped it home and decided I should do some major work. I took off the front clip due to needing to pull the motor and trans, the drivers inner fender was all cut up by the PO, I want to Lizard Skin the bottom and lower half of the firewall and need to rewire the whole truck. The PS pump is painted blue as is the alternator so that will be fixed. The radiator support was not even bolted in and has a crack on the bottom but no rust. I will be getting new PS lines and clean and paint to frame and firewall while it's apart. The motor will be resealed and a new cam put in and maybe alum. heads if I can afford it. Also I'm going with an OD Trans. I hope to have the motor and trans out by tomorrow and will start cleaning things up for paint. The motor work will happen this winter so no big rush. Heres some pics of where I'm at right now.

Re: Finally had to bite the bullet

Almost forgot. I scored a 63 grill and will have the grill and bumpers with brackets powder coated matte black. The engine bay will be flat black and the motor will be red with polished bits with red accents and braided hoses and all that. I will also have the paring light buckets and tail light buckets powder coated matte black.

Me too. lol I knew it was coming so I didn't cry too hard. I'm giving myself a year and a half to do all the stuff I want to. Probably end up being closer to two years. lol

I usually take the time I think its going to take and multiply it by 2, so 2 years would be pretty efficient in my book

Re: Finally had to bite the bullet

Got the motor and trans out with the help of my boys. The older one asked e why I'm not taking it down to the frame and that got me thinking. Now It will be down to the frame this week. lol All the suspension, steering and brakes are done so it just motor work wiring, body and paint. Then carpet and seat recover and she is good to go.

Re: Finally had to bite the bullet

Got the cab off finally with the help of my boys. Will have the bed off next week then I can start taking apart the front and rear suspension and get the frame ready for powder coat. I will have the rear end rebuilt and a posi installed. Also going with the CPP cross member and trailing arms. the front suspension and steering is all new but I didn't paint anything when I put it on so it will come apart for paint. That should give me something to do this winter.
