SEM 39853 texture coating. Supposed to be top-coat-able. We'll see. Mentally preparing myself to strip it off if need be...

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Was hoping removing the emblem was part of the plans Looks so much better....I really don't get why they think that was a smart business move. Maybe on the center cap but not in the spokes....probably cut their sales in 1/2 or more for people not willing to do what you are....

And on chrome....I bet it cut their sales by 1/4

Looking forward to seeing them done with the texture and those flat caps...should be a very cool look!!!

I've done it (texture) on stuff & liked the results. Wheels obviously are a different ballgame....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Agreed. I couldn't pass for the price compared to similar styles. A little money and a little time seems to be easier to come by than lots of either...

Yeah, we'll see. Back up plan involves TIG and sandblasting. Trying to KISS- and cheap-ish...

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Had some free time today, but it was too cold to paint wheels, so I set to work installing bigblock73's corner mounted 6x9 brackets. High quality, excellent fitting pieces that sound WAY better than my old boxes that were stuck in the corner. Two thumbs way up!

Much mo' betta! Actually can hear the 6x9s now. I did line the cavity with heat/sound deadener and the inside of the panel with 'dynamat', to kill any tinny-ness. I'm quite satisfied with the sound quality.

As mentioned bigblock73 (Jeff) is the man to contact for your very own set. He originally designed them for his own project and had a demand for more. Now he has ventured out and is making them for you 67-72 guys. Great person to deal with too.

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Wow, I've missed this build from the get go. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do to get caught up. I just finished reading through the 6th page and I know I need to check in so I don't forget to finish reading. I've lost track of so many builds by not check posting to subscribe. I have to refrain myself from jumping to the end to see the finished product. It all Looks great so far. I can't wait to finish reading through.

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good C10

Tested out my wheel finish on one of the fronts tonight. I think it turned out pretty decent. The paint is glossier and darker than I wanted, but I think it will work. Just gotta do the other three now...
