new dash guages for my 87 but with NEW dash guages

I have poked around a little on the forums about a digital speedometer and a digital tachometer. Someone helped me solve the problem for a digital speedometer in the event that there isn't one that can read a speedometer cable but the tachometer issue seems to remain due to my older transmission.

I've heard of conversions but not found a detailed description of how to get a new digital tachometer gauge to read an older transmission. Let me know if you know.

Either way, I though to myself that maybe it would be worth it to put a 2000 or later dash and computer in my 86 c10 as long as it would work. I know a junkyard has to have a beat to hell and back truck that the computer is still good on. Has anyone tried this? I couldn't find it on the forums. I know that the older transmission would still be a problem but I was thinking of getting a newer one to go with some 454 engines I've been trying to get prices on. It was recommended by me that I get this setup: " I would suggest a well built TH400 trans such as a TCI Street Fighter for this engine with a 2500 stall converter" but I'm not familiar with it at all. I assume it is for racing? Either way, I don't know if it has the VSS that is necessary.

I know this isn't quite what the forum is about but would Ford dash and computer be possible? I'd like to try that because Ford's have shift on the fly in the event that I try 4x4 as well. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any replies and suggestions. All are appreciated.
