Wheel/Hub Cap Question ?

I just bought a 1967 Chev 1/2ton 2wd Dark Aqua Poly pickup.
It has white wagon wheels on it currently. I have been looking for two 15x7 six lug rallyes for awhile. This would be my wheels of choice to run with 15x8's out back with 15x7's up front.
But, this got me thinking... What would have came on this truck originally. This appears to be all mostly original truck. it's pretty rusty and alot of paint fade (patina). But, I have attached the SPID tag image. It is a "Custom", it is a V-8, auto, 3.73 posi. But does not refer to wheels or covers on the SPID. The trim and front bumper are painted, not chrome. Does this give anyone any indication as the whether this truck would have had the small center cap type hub cap or the full cover? Kind of thinking I might go back with this look for awhile once I get it running.
If you wouldn't mind posting a picture or two of the hub/wheel cover I am searching for as well. That would be great.
Thank you all in advance.

Re: Wheel/Hub Cap Question ?

Chrome hubcaps or wheel covers would be a listed option for a '67 Custom. Your truck came with painted white hubcaps

I thought about sending you a PM directly because I knew you would know. So glad you replied. Any images out there of what this painted white hubcap looks like? Also, would the wheels be painted black, white, gray or body color?

Thank you again

Re: Wheel/Hub Cap Question ?

Ok, so I have not picked up the truck yet (will be later today). I just noticed the spare tire mounted in the bed, this just may answer my above question as far as orig wheel color. We will see...

Nice truck. One of the best 67-72 colors.

Re: Wheel/Hub Cap Question ?

Except for the “custom group” my truck is similar with side molding, white painted bumpers and grill. My wheels are painted black from the factory with the small white dog dish caps.

Good info...
I have, of course, found three 15x7 four nub wheels laying around. So I may look for another black 6-lug steel wheel locally to run on this thing once I get it running.

So, I replaced broken passenger side door glass, new regulator and door latch mechanism. Then took off the west coast jr mirrors. Also gave it a decent wash, but will definitely need to go back for a good de-greasing.
It's still on the trailer at the shop.

I will keep an eye out for a set of these, pretty much any quality will be ok for this truck.

Thank you for letting me know, but not sure that "expensive" is the kind this truck needs. I think more of a "low to slightly below average driver" is more like what I am thinking.

Re: Wheel/Hub Cap Question ?

These are the caps that came with my '67 c10 2wd custom (v8, 4-spd). I thought "custom" meant chrome trim and vinyl covered door panels, but maybe that was only a Canadian thing.

Those are passenger car hub caps. They do fit well and look just fine.

Really? I just assumed the farmer that I got the truck from had original caps on it. He must've robbed the set off a car.

Even if they are passenger car caps I like em, and with the red rims on my black truck, they'll look good.

Correct. Custom trim level means chrome trim and vinyl door panels as well as a cloth seat. But chrome hubcaps (and bumpers) only came on CSTs unless the options were added

No even if to it, and Hooverfish agrees they look good. It was a common thing to swap caps on trucks back in the day. '67 chrome caps look just like the painted one shown.

Might be why we can find mint take-off caps all these years later. Popped off, put on shelf, car caps on

'67 uses wheel paint rules carried over from '66. These rules do not apply to '68-'72. If solid color, wheels are gloss black, hubcap white with red trim. If tu tone( roof white) wheels are body color, hubcap white with red trim.
