Break lights stay on (occasionally)

Totally redid back drums and front discs, replaced a front caliper. Brakes work great. But sometimes the brake pedal doesn't raise back up enough to let off the switch to shut off the lights. I got down there and raised the pedal as much as I thought I should, I know it's not supposed to be more than an inch or something like that higher than gas. Is there something I'm missing? Is there something in the linkage under the hood that should be greased, etc? I'm getting used to using the toes of my shoe with my other foot to raise the pedal back up, not a habit I want to get into!
