I'm just installing the door weatherstrip, and didn't know if there was supposed to be some sort of cap covering the end at the box? I guess if the hard top was on you wouldn't see it, but with a soft top it looks unfinished.

I think I saw a cap for that in the LMC catalog.

I'll check with Bill's trucks in the morning. I never think of checking LMC because it's just too expensive for us north of the border especially now that an item that costs $1.00 US will now cost us $1.42 because of the exchange rate, and then we have to add shipping, brokerage, taxes... I'm too old now, but if I had to do it over again I would have moved to the States when I was young.

JMO, but if you plug it, where will the air go when you collapse the weatherstrip. Could make it hard to close the door

Good point, but if they came from the factory, you would think they'd be OK.

that's just it, I've never seen it. But, a cover would work. When the door is closed doesn't it pinch it shut, dunno

The Chevy parts catalog shows a plug there (page 17-6). It must have been made of a softer material than the plugs sold by LMC. The LMC plugs that I tried are too hard and usually pop out when the door is closed.

They weren't glued in from the factory, at least mine weren't. Kind of wish the were so I wouldn't have lost one by blowing it out with the pressure washer.

What is the material of your plugs?. My LMC plugs are made of hard rubber, definitely not like the originals shown above. When inserted without some sort of cement they literally launch 15 feet across the garage (LOL ) when the door is closed. When glued in they inhibit the closing of the door..... curious to see what yours do.

The way ls1novas is designed makes sense, if you glued the tab in, it would still vent the pressure out the curled up edges

Here's mine installed. I only glued a small portion of it so that I could remove them if they don't work out. They are made of hard rubber, and I think they will interfere with the door. I'll know better once I get the doors painted and installed. The ones posted in LS1's post look like they are a softer material and would work better.
Too bad the ear plugs I have here are bright orange !! LOL

I have attempted to use the hard rubber plugs as well. Glued them in and they just get squeezed out over and over. I really like the idea of using an ear plug! Color it black with a sharpie and bingo. It should be soft enough to compress when the door closes without wanting to launch itself. The back side of those orange ear plugs also have a nice finished surface that would look perfect.
