way to tell between ford and chevy rear d60's?

I just got a d60 for 150 that has all new brakes and bearings I was told it was a Ford d60 16 spline but he got it already rebuilt. When I got home I noticed it looked like the perches are the same width as my 12 bolt (didn't have a tape measure but it was same distance from backing plate using my hand). I've always thought they have different spring widths between chevy and ford I was woundering if there is any other way to tell if it's chevy or ford. Oh both shock mounts are on the front of the axle like on our trucks Idk if Ford did the same or not.
