Re: Diesel does a build

that engine looks real good, and a dropmember, me jealous! as for the bodyshop buisiness of sanding and sanding and sanding, yah, you get used to it. takes time, then you get a busted up arm like mine right now, oh well.

Yup, going bagg'd all around, but baby's gettin ready to go into storage for a year. And yes, Nate does awesome stuff. I want to spread the love all around the board and get a SD rear kit just to keep it even, but I've got a lil bit of time on my hands to think all of that through, Let's just say that I'm in no big hurry. I just bought a Big Red manifold, as well.

All I can say is, I have a front DM, Big Red manifold, and a boatload of other parts. Still haven't decided on what I'm doing on the rear. I might even find a real clean, uncut truck to use all of this stuff on, and use this truck as a parts hauler, who knows. I would really like to find a nice, original Blazer or Jimmy and drop the hell out of it. I like the flat black look and all, but would kill for an original looking truck or blaze.

That sounds like a really good idea to throw that on a nice original or maybe patina'd truck...you could probably find a deal on one w/out a drivetrain.

Best wishes on your deployment. You'll be in my prayers as I pray for all of the troops daily as well as my family.

Re: Diesel does a build

Thank you for serving for our country sir! What you do for us is awesome!

And nice looking truck you've got there! The black and silver body with black wheels is a perfect touch to your build for sure. I guess it's the nascar look that I like about it. Hope all is well over seas and return home safe.

I REALLY appreciate your kindness, but I'm really close to getting out of this motha! By the time it got here, I'd probably be getting on a plane headed for greener pastures.

Thank's all for your support!

Re: Diesel does a build

Well, I went and got her out today. Couldn't get it to run at first, and of course had no tools on me, except for a pair of Vise-Grips that were in the glovebox, but I managed to jimmy a spark plug out with those, only to discover that she wasn't getting any spark. Turns out that the lead from the coil was corroded on the fuse panel and not getting any, or enough at least, power. I'm not sure if anybody here got the memo, but 67-72 GM trucks with original weatherstripping tend to leak a little when they sit outside for a year. So I switched to another non-fused lead, and voila, she fired right up as if it had never sat. It of course did this with a live spark plug in my hand.

So, she looks like crap. The areas that still had the original Wal-mart spray paint on it look absolutely horrible, and what makes it look even worse is the fact that I had the bed painted with actual paint (gasp!) right before I put it into storage, and it still looks really good.

I've got quite the set of chores ahead of me. Not sure what I am going to do about the paint situation. I have new fenders, so I will probably put them on when I pull the engine here soon and have it shot with real paint so it matches.

On top of all this, I still owe the wife's car a thorough polishing/waxing and I'm getting the SS out of storage this weekend and have a bed full of parts for it as well.

Lucky for me, my friends help is easily bought with cheap beer. OK, nuff jibber jabber, here's some pics:

Actually, the chrome held up real nice, it's just the el cheapo gas cap that looks like crap.
