Re: SPID Picture thread?

I have seen

Z62 CUSTOM COMF & CONV EQ

On a number of these SPIDS.

Is this just a trim package? what came with it?

Thanks

Re: SPID Picture thread?

RPO Z62 is what evolved into the Scottsdale trim package in later years (mid trim level, between Custom Deluxe and Silverado).

Re: SPID Picture thread?

A '66 information page while not exactly accurate is close. Here is a exterior emblem progression that basically shows the trim level evolution through 67-72 using the RPO code Z62 (and Z61). CC+CA, CC&A and Custom Deluxe are all pretty much the same content though.

Lets start with the trim levels and their exterior emblems through the 67-72 years. This shows how the names progressed downward as new trim levels were added.

67 10-30 base fender emblem used for all trim levels
Custom Appearance Z61 Custom badged, door
Custom Comfort Z62 (none)
Custom Sport Truck Z84 CST badged, door

68 CA & CC combined to become Custom Comfort & Appearance Z62

10-30 base fender emblem used for all trim levels
Custom Comfort & Appearance Z62 Custom badged, door
Custom Sport Truck Z84 CST badged, door

69 C/10-30 base trim fender emblem
Custom Comfort & Appearance Z62 Custom/10-30 fender emblem
Custom Sport Truck Z84 CST/10-30 fender emblem

70 C/10-30 base trim fender emblem
Custom Comfort & Appearance Z62 Custom/10-30 fender emblem
Custom Sport Truck Z84 CST/10-30 fender emblem

71 Custom is now base trim
CC&A became Custom Deluxe Z62
CST became Cheyenne Z84

CUSTOM/10-30 base trim fender emblem
Custom Deluxe Z62 CUSTOM/10-30 + DELUXE fender emblems
Cheyenne Z84 CHEYENNE/10-30 fender emblem
Cheyenne Super YE9 (April 71 release) CHEYENNE/10-30 + SUPER fender emblems

72 CUSTOM/10-30 base trim fender emblem
Custom Deluxe Z62 CUSTOM/10-30 + DELUXE fender emblems
Highlander (trim upgrade to and required Custom Deluxe Z62) (no change)
Cheyenne Z84 CHEYENNE/10-30 fender emblem
Cheyenne Super YE9 CHEYENNE/10-30 + SUPER fender emblems

****
Note: On 67-71 trucks ordered with the Custom Camper (67-68) or CustomCamper/10-30 (69-71) RPO Z81 nameplate, it superceded the fender series emblem. As such a base 20, C/10 or a CHEYENNE/30 SUPER would have the relevant CustomCamper/10-30 fender emblem and NOT reflect the actual trim level. 72 trucks reverted to a trim level independent Custom Camper door emblems.

Here are the trims level descriptions, by year, for 67-72 I'd previously posted.

Curious about that code though...

Vehicles were fueled with a minimal amount of fuel for dealer delivery. Sometimes there was a need or desire for additional fuel in the tank, export prep or through shipping to an upfitter come to mind. This is the code for the added fuel.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Like Tim says, minimal fuel, just enough to get it to the dealer, usually. Sometimes they ran out coming off the trailer or on the way to the gas station. This is because the factory doesn't pay any tax on the fuel. Not sure of the reason. Anyway, we used to take the vehicles after delivery and run them to the gas station down the street before we got our own tanks and pumps. We'd put in $1 worth. Doesn't seem like much, but in the early '70s, that was over 3 gallons!

Re: SPID Picture thread?

My father always carried a fuel can and long jumper cables on his car hauler, especially in the winter loading up at the GM Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec assembly plant. Cold soaked cars never went very far or long on the factory fill.

Approx 3 gallons on initial fill.

We will occasionally run a vehicle out of gas shuttling it between the various repair sites within the factory.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Here's mine. Everything on this is on the truck right now. I will probably replace the AM radio with a modern one (not cutting the dash), and I'm willing to lose the toolbox to fix the dent on that side. The plan is to keep it very close to stock.
