Best resale interior color ... black or red?

I'm getting closer to having the interior for my panel done. Personally I love black with red interiors, and that was always the plan. But I'm trying to consider what would be better for future resale value.

I also really like black interiors. And black on black on black is a very cool look.

I need to settle in to only having one truck, and once the panel is on the road if I decide that isn't going to be my keeper I want to be able to move it easily.

There are plenty of colors that look good with a shiny black rig, but I'm sticking with black or red only.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

The red will appeal to some guys (me, for instance), but the black will appeal to most guys. If it were mine I'd do what I wanted, screw the resale!

Good luck, Rg

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

I think the same about black. Although I get what you say, but do what you want and screw resale isn't the best business decision haha!

Red would look soooo good though =)

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

Black with red accents would be cool. As in, all metal inside is black. Seat, door panels, dash pad, visors, etc. red. Easy stuff for the next guy to change if they really want to.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

That was the plan all along. Black metal, red for all upholstery.

Over the years I have seen a lot of nicely finished cars for sale that looked nice except for ... fill in the blank. Changing things costs money and adds up quickly. Might turn people away from an other wise nicely done ride.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

I like red with black or silver.
A rich brown would also be very nice.
Btw you may need to take a trip to Joannes or the like and get some small sample colors to look at with the black exterior.
Or order a sample kit online.

Word is hugger orange has the best resale value. But you said red or black. Assuming neither is original, personally, I'm sold on your original plan. Black & red is an AWESOME combination.

I really like both & don't think one would be worth much more than the other at resale

It's not like the metal is going to be red. The red might actually make it stand out more?

Bad interior color combos... GMC was all over that back in the day

I think you'll be fine with red/black. It's a traditional hot rod color combo.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

My apology for offering other options when it was asked for.
Both would look good for resale but the red should be more appealing to both males and female as most couples are purchasing finished classic and hot rods together these days.

Like others have said I think they both go well together. I don't think either one would play a role in someone's decision if they were considering a purchase.

To me it's not so much about the color as much as it is about the QUALITY of the work and how it all flows together with the truck. I usually gravitate toward a black interior on a modern vehicle, but would be very interested in red on a vintage vehicle if it was done well. Either color will work, but make it nice.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

Red for sure. Don't need to add to all that black, red inside black always looks fantastic, I think it will add far more appeal and interest, and you have those cool redwalls looking for a complimentary accent. Also, red adds flash to take it away from anyone mistaking it for a hearse. Gotta keep that sporty side showing and red is a sports car interior color (as well as hot rod).

For building for resale to appeal to most, contemporary would get you there and I think that would be a saddle or other leather looking color.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

All it takes is one hot day.. and sit on a dark color seat.. vinyl .and the love of black and other dark colors go bye bye..
Some areas. buyers won't even look at a vehicle with black vinyl.. Well. those that plan on using it, not making it a garage queen.

Re: Best resale interior color ... black or red?

The hot vinyl seat issue is easily remedied with laying a towel or t-shirt on the seat while it's parked. I'd go full red interior throughout. And may I suggest considering a thin little red pinstripe to boot?

Oh, that makes sense ?

Cover it with cloth, so it don't get hot as heck..
Wouldn't want to cover the seat in cloth, so you don't have to cover the newly redone seat.. na....... What am I thinking
