Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Earls Ultra-Pro trans cooler installed along with a power steering cooler.
Time for some interior work, I picked up carpet and lower door carpet from ACC, they have the OE colors and an excellent fitting product. |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
one thing I knew I wanted was a nice modern sound system that fits like factory and no sub box behind the seat. I went full Memphis for factory size speakers with a 200 watt amp for highs and a 10" powered Memphis sub for under the seat.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Your Truck looks extremely good - this is a top quality build!
2 questions - on the paint lines for the 2 tone cab roof - I'd be curious if you could show some pictures of where you made the tape line (I'm thinking of a white roof and don't have any examples of where the paint dividing line should be). 2nd question - those front dash speakers look nice - have you tried fitting the dash yet? I'd be interested if they fit without hitting the dash pad. I put some aftermarket ones in (different brand) and they were too tall. |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Luke,
Enjoying the updates... was wondering if you have a pic or two of the area around the power steering connections? I am in the process of trying to run the pwr steering lines along the brake lines & not sure "the order" that the lines go in? IE: the brake lines over/under the power steering lines.... if too much trouble or time, no worries..... a really beautiful truck!!!! |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
luke ,
thank again for the time. I am going to try to straighten up my brake lines a bit. I think the way I have it now will work, I just want to make sure I have clearance between the inner fender and frame for the lines now..... thanks!! |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Going back to the paining - Did you do the two tone base colors first, and then come back and clear them (assuming its BC/CC) as one? Or did you do the BC/CC on both colors separately? I'm curious if you could take me through the process.

I shot the silver first, mask all the silver off then shot all the blue. Unmask then clear all at once. That’s the way I’ve shot two-tones for years. |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Thanks for the reply - how long do you let the Silver flash before you masked it? I'm thinking thats the most efficient way to paint it, but worried I'll pull the first coat off with my tape line if its not dry enough.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Depends on basecoat, I waited around 30 mins at 70 degrees. Need to be sure to use high quality tape and rub it across your jeans to remove some of the sticky before taping with it.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
luke,
i hate to bother you again but I was wondering if you might share (for me) some info. related to the AC system. I am wondering what size hose you used on the LS motor water pump to the VA system where it connects to the line above the line that has the valve attached? I think the motor is a larger connection than the connection line on the Vintage Air system? I guess I can just tighten down onto the V.A. connection? just wanting to double check... thank you |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
Bodyside molding going on, I bought the roll and cutting to fit, I figured the precut stuff wouldn't fit very well. one of my favorite things I did to the whole build was having all the OE hardware stripped and clear zinced, I think the door latches and bolts look good against the blue. a big goal was to get this truck quiet inside, covering the doors should help.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
What is that material your covering the door with? Did you do any dynamat on the inside of the door shell?
I believe that more noise comes through the doors than the floor. |

Vibro Solutions closed cell foam, I did use some 2mm Vibro Solutions mat inside the doors too.

I am not sure what "accessory drive" I have? I guess I am using the factory drive system (motor is completely stock)? the V.A. kit I have is the sure fit system for the '86 truck (w/ fact. AC) & then I have the LS motor compressor relocation kit. to be honest I am not sure which way the Flow is on that line? I wonder if i could just attach the 3/4 hose and "sinch down" onto the VA connection..... any assistance would be very greatly appreciated!!! thank you, |

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build
500 miles on the build so far, after some tuning work I’m really happy how it turned out. Looking to have some OE seat belts re-webbed to replace the aftermarket belts I’ve tried to use.
