fuel tank anti-squeak padding

I am installing a new fuel tank on an '84 k1500 and the new parts didn't come with the anti squeak webbing. I have done searches but haven't found what really looks like it is correct. I am sure it is out there, but I am evidentally not using the right wording. Can anyone tell me what they used that worked good? thanks.

I used a old set of seat belts just cut them up to fit into the fuel tank straps.

That’s a good idea, also. I have plenty of those around. Thanks!

That is LITERALLY what LMC sells! Even has the lines in it for roofing! On top of that the stuff they sell is lightweight tarpaper and not even s this as OEM! I threw mine from LMC away and used the heavy weight roofing tar paper I already had!

"Heavy" 30# roofing felt or "roofing underlayment paper". You can use 15# as well. It's pretty close to the original tar impregnated paper that GM used.

Actual rolled roofing is too thick.

Re: fuel tank anti-squeak padding

When I pulled the tanks from my truck, I found sectioned inner tubes doing duty as padding.

Seemed good enough for me.

I've got a few blown-out tractor tubes sitting around, so one of those will get cut up for re-padding the tank brackets upon reassembly.
