Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

That 4k truck is a $500 truck around here.

Those low mileage cars with stock interiors that look good are not going to be able to be used, the material will be rotten & it will fall apart.

Sad that so many cars didn't get used in their prime & sat to just rot.

Now I don feel so bad spending $10k on body and paint (body off frame, stripped to bare metal, frame blasted and painted) on a 72 swb stepide! Probably another $5k in it in bed wood, repro rubber, vintage air, seat cover etc

Did anyone on the board buy anything? I would love to know what people are going to do with some of these vehicles.

I wish I were there, I like the '64 Impala from the showroom. I also wish I had "cable" TV but eh, the budget, affordable heath care act causing my rates to skyrocket, waaah! oh wait this isn't a political forum . I found a link to watch the auction live that I will watch in the morning. No time listed though. http://www.vanderbrinkauctions.com/auctions_current.php

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Insane pricing, most of that stuff brought so much more than it should have. I just don't understand, other than the inside stuff, why on earth would you go nuts buying a car that sat in the grass for 50 years. Crazy.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

There were a lot of chevy GM trucks but they have all been sold on day 1.

Yea pricing was insane. Someone interviewed said there was just to much emotion involved. The excite of being there and "Im not leaving without buying something" or someone decided they had to have it and not giving up metality drove prices through the roof. Same thing as Barret Jackson. Its a much larger scale with people that have a hell of a lot more money than the average joe.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Found a site, proxibid.com listing the pricing for the sales. It looks like there are some really deep pockets there. They can't list the buyers names but o****e has bought more than a half a mill worth of cars and memorabilia.

...Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I think a few guys are going to have a bit of a financial hangover this week...maybe even a few deal back-outs.
I've witnessed in person that kind of auction/excitement behaviour before and its really something to watch when guys get carried away in emotion and competition.
The auction company played this VERY smart by drumming up a lot of media interest in this event...very smart, and they will be enjoying the fruits of their labor this week at the bank for sure.
Still, its great to see that these kinds of vehicles surface every now and then to drum up some excitement in the classic car/truck hobby.
My two bits.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Now how many of these will turn up at Barrett Jackson or some other big name auction after a detail job and minor mechanical work done?

If I had the money I would, I'm sure there will be someone out there that will pay more yet.

As for all the vehicles in the field, I have several ready to be bid on right now. And even have a nice shortbed driver ready to go down the road. Come on deep pockets stop on by.
I'll even have a cold Shiner Bock in the fridge for them.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

There might be a few exceptions, but my guess is anyone going there looking for a deal is gonna be disappointed. The first clue: the History Channel is covering it. This is not your ordinary auction. With a significant story to the background, the family and the auction company are looking to capitalize on that, and they have done a good job getting the word/hype out there.

In short, this is not a true representation of the market that most of us are looking at. This is a market for people with "silly money" for whom the "story" means more to them than how much money they paid.
