Thanks for posting the pictures. Might have to do some photoshop touching up on that picture with the row of trucks and make it into a cool wallpaper

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Thanks for posting the great pictures!

One question I gotta ask and its prolly a stupid one at that but with the brand new cars an trucks that were sold there for the first time with new titles (even though they're 50yrs old) will GM still warranty them?

Obviously not being they were sold AS-IS and they're old but what made me ask this was when I saw that GM protection plan binder in the 58' cameo.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Why is everyone so hung up on how much others choose to pay for a vehicle? Who cares? I think it's awesome that they were able to sell all these vehicles instead of crushing them! Then everyone would be complaining that they should have had an auction

Were some of the prices high? Sure. But hopefully that means that the buyers are serious about restoring them. Why else would you pay so much?

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

High prices sets the precedence for later sales... I guarantee that we'll be seeing Lambrecht cars showing up 50 years from now... They will command a premium similar to Yenko cars I'll bet.

Hosts useless.... They could have had a camera on a tripod and it would have been better. Just like the American Top Gear where they focus on the idiot "TV Stars" instead of the cars. The cars are what everyone tune in to see, at least it's what I want to see.

Seriously? Yenko was a dealer that did premium performance hop ups & put together cool performance packages in the muscle car era. Lambrecht was a dealer who dealt primarily in family sedans & farm trucks & let a bunch of new classics become clapped out pieces by neglecting them.

I tend to agree with you. The man deserves no credit for taking brand new cars and letting them sit outside for 40 years and turn to near junk. Although if they were sold when they should have been, where would they be now?

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Your all welcome but it was my son in law, Brook Janes from Lincoln who posted these for me as he just went nuts over taking pictures of everything he thought was cool. Thus a few FORD pictures and Lumina van ones. I myself took over 300 pictures of mainly the 64-66 pickup details. As you can see from where we stood in the back of the 65 maroon pickup with 5 miles and looked out over the auction crowd swarm toward the 64--66 pickups that were about to sell. I got to admit, at that moment as I looked down at all my notes and research I had taken the last week about each of the 6 trucks I wanted to take home with a top dollar figure, you start to think whats another $2000 more? Then reality hits you that there isn't a chance in hell you are going to outbid the crazy people in this mob or the internet bidders who don't see what you have seen.

Just a quick note of what I observed from being there from Thursday evening to Saturday mid afternoon. Lambrecht purely never planned to sell these vehicles as he took them straight to this farm to forget about these mistakes and the 64-66 pickups I was told from some good sources went out to the farm right after the new next year models came in and had always sat outside there in the dirt then trees. Nothing but crusty lower frames and dried up rubber everywhere. Rust in every seam under the cowls and roofs above the visors. The black 66 BEFORE I saw it in person was the one I would have went after with big dollars but viewing it in person it was the rustiest of all from top to bottom. People viewing these low mile gems were the second hardest element on the trucks life as so many stupid people would get in and out of the trucks and jump up and down in the seats and turn all the switches and slam the doors and hoods and whatever else they could get their fingers on. Then I caught a woman and her husband tilt forward that 66 CST seat and she actually started trying to pull the build sheet from behind the seat cushion springs and tearing pieces of it. At least I captured their was a second build sheet under the lower cushion also she never found! Dip sticks and oil tubes were bent as everyone had to pull the dipsticks and try to push them back in. It was also a very sad day for those old girls too as many lost their virginity last weekend being raped by the crowd.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

It'd be interesting to see what the GM warranty claims people would do if a service dept submitted a claim for one of these vehicles. "We need a new carburetor for a 64 chevy"

Sad they were al left outside to rot interesting pictures but I'd never spend the kind of money for stuff just because of nil to low miles.

The thing to remember, is that a lot of the vehicles stored outside had 40-75,000 miles on them. People assume that because some of the vehicles stored inside had 3 miles on them, that ALL in the field were the same. Not the case. Other than being less likely to have speaker holes in the doors, and dashes cut for modern radios, a lot of these trucks are likely in worse shape than if they had been driven all those years instead of sitting outside

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

It was a r/c flying camera, I assume with the History Channel crew. I counted 8 rotors on it! I was impressed because the wind was REALLY blowing and it could hold it's position no problem.

My big regret from the weekend was not taking more pictures. I didn't do it on Friday because I was just walking around with my jaw hanging open, and then the crowd was too big on Saturday to get good shots. Oh well.

I found it interesting that the exhaust manifolds on the 283 were painted engine color...

All the V8's had the exhaust manifolds on when painted. Guys doing the concours resto stuff, such as the Corvettes have been duplicating this for decades.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

Many thanks to your son-in-law. His photos allowed us all to share and almost "be there".

I watched on the History Channel on Saturday night and was floored at all the vehicles. I never even heard of Lambrecht Chevy but after that auction, it will almost be a household name.

Thanks again for the awesome pics and the experience.

Re: Lambrecht Auction Underway

I had a 1967 truck that was wrecked in '75-'76 with 58,000 miles on it. I got it in early 2000 - 2001. It sat out side in the elements on North Central Texas. A whole lot milder a climate than up there. The truck was a rotted out hull of nothing.

Now I have my '66 toyota landcruiser that came from San Antonio area and it sat out in the elements for most of it's life. And sat unused from mid 80's to '96 when I had it given to me. With a mere 31,000 miles on it. This thing had three tiny rust issues all in the bed where trash held the moisture there. It was a whole different world between the two of them.

Now all the auction vehicles that sat outside, my dad was there and he said many were as bad if not worse than the old 1967 I had I paid $250.00 for a few parts.

To me just because the odometer shows minimal mileage isn't a great reason to spend big money on it, considering the climate and the location that these vehicles were in under trees. That kills metal because of all the build up of leaves, trash and moisture.

This appears to be the pitch, but I don't buy it. Most pickups are '64's, which are practically indentical to '65's which are practically indentical to '66's. There would have been no problem selling these vehicles to the rural farm market or any other typical market in the country. The way this trucks were set up is very typical of thousands and thousands of Chevy trucks that were sold pre 1967. Chevy always sold more 6 cyl trucks than V8 trucks pre '67. You know as well as I do, these trucks would have sold immediately on any car lot in America with these options assuming there were no legal problems ( title) or flood damage. It may be hard for some to believe today, but longbed trucks always outsold shortbed trucks when new during the 60's 70's and 80's. I can see retiring the used clunker trade ins, but any late model unused truck would have sold pronto.
