12 years ago, I noticed that F*rd had turn signal mirrors. I contacted KWMuth who made them from Pickup/Astro/etc and asked if they would make some from a Chevy for me. They custom built them for me and used pics of my truck to solicit GM! I just couldn't see putting Aerostar mirrors on my GMC.

Thanks! Color . . .hmmmmm. Actually haven't decided. It will be two-toned with dark on the top, lighter on the bottom. Sending some choices to a friend to photoshop this week. The cut will be like the one pictured, but not those colors--beautiful truck, but they are a little too sedate for me.

O.K., the bus is sold. Been putting finishing touches on it to sell so I haven't spent much time on the 52.
BACK TO WORK!
Picked up a crossflow radiator. Am going to cut the core support way, way down--probably flush with the tops of the fenders. This will show off the stylin 6 banger

Have always thought the radiator cover was overkill appearance-wise.

Glad to see you back. your thread inspires me when I get depressed with mine. just not enough time in a day.I saw your bus in the back ground very nice.I record Overhaulin weekly when its on I got one were they did a mini bus for John Force reminded me of yours. You can google overhaulin and see it if you never did. Might want to check out the 52GMC they did its sweet. i like the front end I might borrow the headlite idea

Body work starting up again. Sheet metal is in decent shape. Being an ambulance in dry Eastern Washington, this thing has little rust-& few dents. No patch panels except where we are doing custom work! Front sheet metal should be hung, finished. Core support will be hand built next week--then primer on the front clip!!

UPDATES! Shortened the core support, just to 'clean it up'.
Filled the emblem holes in the side of the hood and finished off the "scoops". (if you don't know about the scoops, just ask)
Finshing off the back door and the front fenders.

If you look back in the build, you will see that I used a combination the front half of the 1/2 ton sheet metal along with the back half of the 1 1/2 ton front sheet metal. This gave me more clearance because it was wider and the fenders sit a little higher from the cowl forward. It makes it look like the hood has been sectioned for a shorter profile, but it hasn't--it just is shorter height wise.
The 1 1/2 ton is also 4 inches longer, front to cowl. That is why we used the front half of the 1/2 ton fenders to shorten the wheel opening. When we cut the 4-ish inches out of the hood to shorten it up, the 'scoops' came about naturally because the hood narrows as it goes forward. I could have opted to shrink it to delete them but I think it gives it a custom look.

Are you adding a 3rd and 4th door? If so please document that process. My next project will be an AD burb for the wife, but she is insistant that it have 4 doors.

O.K., O.K., you caught me. My son didn't want me to show it until it was done.

Since you are on to me, I will show it. I am only putting an extra door on the passenger side. I agree with the GM engineers circa 1967 when they had two doors on the left side. They passenger rear door will be suicide style, with no post like a late model extended cab pickup.

And thats the old guy that implements my crazy ideas!!! He has been doing my bodywork since about 1978. Wait til you see the looney ideas I have for the tail lights, the top, the back door handle, the bumpers . . . the PAINT!!!!

Most of those are already a given. In southern Louisiana A/C is a necessity, not a luxury. I think I'll stop short of the airbags and onstar though.

It looks like some good work y'all are doing, I'm definately along for the ride to see all of the other tricks you have hidden up your sleeve.
