Lets See Some Static Drops An Details Focused On The 1960-62s Please. I Have A 62 I'm Looking To Do A Static Drop On.. Not Sure If Going The Full Disc Brake Swap Or Just Torsion Bar Tweaking. I Also Will Be Pulling A 13ft Vintage Camper. So Thinking Maybe C Notch For Travel Or Not

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

I would not recommend dropping your truck much more than 2-3 inches by loosening the torsion bars. So you can probably get the front down around 5 inches safely with torsion bars and drop spindles. Some people might disagree with that. As far as the rear goes it is harder to do a c notch on a 60-62 because of the x frame. They don’t sell kits for it like they do for a 63-66. With that being said I would start out using 2 inches drop blocks and coils to figure out the rest. When I dropped mine in the rear I could not drop it 6 inches without the axle hitting the frame going over bumps but I have heard if people getting away with 6 inches but that is without a camper. From what I have read in order to level the truck out it needs to be dropped 2 more inches in the rear than in the front but that will be different with a camper. Maybe air bags in the rear to give you proper adjustability. If you are pulling a camper you probably are going to want disks in the front anyway. I will leave it to you to look through this thread to find photos of 60-62’s

This was a few years back before I changed the wheels and tires. 2.5” dropped
spindles with the T-bars turned down a little. 15 x 8 inch wheels. 255-60-15 front and 275-60-15 rear. 4 inch lowered rear coils. No C-notch.

did you use the adjustable pan bar too with the 4" drop coils?
how much travel is there without a "c" notch. Ill be pulling a small 13ft camper.

No, Sir. I'm running a '65 12 bolt rear so I had to modify my existing panhard. It's not adjustable. I don't recall the amount of travel I had but didn't have issues bottoming out or hitting bump stops. I've since switched to bags and honestly prefer those better, especially for heavier loads.

Yes, Sir. On this photo, I was running Hedman 69260 headers with a 383/700R4 drive train.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

On my 62 I originally dropped it around 2 inches with torsion bars and 2 inch drop spindles. I have a 5 inch drop in the rear and I would not try to tow anything with it. If you do you should probably use bags in the rear just to make sure you don’t bottom out.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

It's getting close to being on the road. Sanity has 2 1/2" spindles and 1" coils in front and 5" drop coils in the rear.
