Anyone have one these in their truck

I found this at the local junk yard, it is a aftermarket AC evaporator for a truck that only came with heater core. I picked up the unit ac/heater switch controller and ac bracket for the sanders type of compressor for 50.00. I dont know if I will ever add ac to truck but this seems a lot easier and cheaper then stock or aftermarket stuff. Anyone have a set up like this or more importantly the wiring diagram since everything was not hooked up. Thanks for any help

Re: Anyone have one these in their truck

I think thats the one in my 1986 K30, SRW.

Mine, when you turn on the selector fan setting, the AC starts to work when the level is in the "vent" position.

You can then also move the selector over to Heat or Defrost at which point the compressor kicks off.

I'm out on the road for the next couple weeks and will not be near the truck, I'll see what I can do to help when I return if someone has not help beforehand.

Enjoy,

I took pictures so I think I know where most of it hooks up to, just not sure if it is all correct. If you or anyone could tell me where the wire from the compressor into the cab hooks into that would be great.

Re: Anyone have one these in their truck

On mine, memory tells me the two vents on either side of the glove box (which had to be cut to fit the blower motor on mine) came off of the "tube" connections, the vent above the radio was via a square hole in the plastic, the last tube feed the vent next to the drivers door.

Been a while since I was up under the dash,

I'll look when I return,

Enjoy,

Bringing this back up again since it is starting to get hot. It is from a company called A-R-A and so it comes with this unit, bracket for a sanders ac compressor and the heater/ac controls. I was hoping I could find some instructions on using the system, I think I got everything from the junkyard truck but not sure. Rideair are you still out there?

A-R-A was a big aftermarket AC outfit in the 70's. At least a lot of their units were installed in Texas in that time frame.

It looks like they are still around http://aramanufacturing.com/ If you have a model number they might still have instructions on file.
