Re: burb dropping

Get springs for a burb! If you use truck springs yes it will sit lower but your ride will be crap since the spring rates are quite a bit different. Your call but it sucks doing things twice!

What burb-specific springs? I don't see any coils listed for only burbs in either LMC's catalog (CB43, p134) or on GMCPauls' spring page:
http://gmcpauls.com/springs.htm

I recently purchased a set of variable rate coils for the rear on my C10 burb, but I haven't installed them yet. They're essentially "cargo" springs with closer spacing between the coil wraps the closer it gets to the frame. Supposedly, the bottom, farther-spaced coil wraps will absorb big bumps and give a near factory ride, but the upper, closer-wound coil wraps will prevent bottoming out and help support heavy loads to a point. I don't know what will happen to the ride height.

I suppose one could install 3/4 ton springs on a 1/2 ton burb to support the burb's weight, but I don't know what that would do to the ride height either. I'm also not sure if that would be better than variable rate "cargo" coils.

Re: burb dropping

I have never seen any burb springs either-I know they weigh at least about 500lbs more than a pickup so they should ride lower. I have a pair of new 3" drop rear springs on my pickup & thought of using them on the burb. I was just wondering how low to expect it to sit,,brian

Re: burb dropping

I bought my springs from Brothers (not installed yet) and they are specificly for the burb. I'm not sure that it was listed in there catalog but I asked them over the phone. When I recieved them they were marked for a burb and carried a different catalog number than the truck springs.

I think the best course of action is to call the co. you plan on purchasing from and have this conversation with them.

Re: burb dropping

Well, Brothers' website is no help. Like GMCPauls, Brothers lists three rear coil springs for 67-72s: Standard, Heavy Duty, and Variable Rate:
http://brothersonlinestore.com/products.asp?dept=687

No mention of burbs on any of the three links and, to make matters worse, Brothers used the same photo for all three springs types. Different part numbers, though.

Long Roof, can you match the part # you received to one of the three springs listed & linked on that link above?

Re: burb dropping

On the box is a Catalog #LCSS36R-4 and theres another number on the box below it that reads 'RCS603-4H.D.'

Also says '1960-72 Chevy C-10 Heavy Duty Rear 4" Lowered Coil Springs'

The description says 'Lowered Coil Springs, Rear, 4", Suburban

I bought the suspension 'Stage 3' kit on sale for $600. I asked them for a suburban kit over the phone. They have a project 71 suburban so they should know what there doing.
