Decided to finish off my bed fill that I grafted in from a junkyard Olds 98. I'm very happy with it and can't wait to see it in paint....just gotta finish the rest of the body work in the bed and put a couple good coats of primer, block, and shoot.

Very nice work indeed! I too wasn't sure what the finished product would look like, but I really like it! Gives a whole new meaning to the "bed fill" option.

John Fabris - That truck you have is the reason I'm considering painting my top white.....love your truck. It's the perfect blend of vintage and hot rod!!...and you're not too far from me. Do you ever take it to any of the area events?

I'm thinking about getting one of those blank glove box option lists from Ebay and filling it all in with the incredibly "rare" options my truck has, including but not limited to:

- Extra capacity fuel tank w/ remote release bed fill option
- Rear sway bar
- oversized front sway bar
- performance suspension upgrade
- supercharged 383
- overdrive tranny
- rear disc brakes
- premium alloy wheels
- performance tires
- special order paint

etc....etc....

Hey Jim,

I have taken my truck to some small shows here in Benicia and Vallejo, but that is about it. I am having trouble finding a right rear brake caliper (for the ford nine inch) that has a working ebrake. My truck needs to have Light and Brake certified before I can get my plates. I am on my 5th caliper, seems that they rebuild the caliper but do not fix the ebrake part. My parts guy is getting pissed, but that is not my problem.... So, once I have my ebrake working, I can get my plates, and then onto finishing up my power one-piece windows and custom hidden stereo, then off to the interior shop. I will let you know when I will be up in that area.

Tell me more about that light and brake cert. I haven't had my truck on the road since about 97. When I do put it back on the road hopefully here in the near future, will I have to have some sort of inspection?

Hey Jim,

When i brought my 67 swb, it had a salvage title, as it was brought from pick-n-pull as a complete truck by the guy I got the truck from. I registered the truck in my name right after I brought it, and in order for DMV to issue new plates for this truck, I needed to #1 get the Vin verified by DMV or Peace Officer, #2 get a weight certificate, #3 Light certificate, and #4 a Brake certicate.

Now, had I known that it would take 7 years for me to get this thing on the road, I would NOT have registered this truck until now. The reason for that is that any vehical that has not had any DMV activities for over 5 years gets removed from the database.
In that case, when you are ready to register, you only have to have the VIN verified (and then you get a new clean title, not salvaged).

So, if you have not registered your truck in over five years, no biggie, just have the vin verified, pay current reg fees, and away you go!!!

If you have a non-opt, just pay current fees.

The certs that I have to do are because of the salvage title, as it has never been on the road since becoming a salvage.

Does that make sense? If not let me know.....

Thanks John.....I knew that about salvage title stuff, but it just didn't register with an older vehicle. That's good news about the 5 year thing, because I didn't non-op mine. It sure makes a whole hell of a lot a sense to give the state the $10 a year non op fee for the privilege of not driving my truck!!!

Gotta do what you gotta due if it's gonna be less then 5 years though to avoid penalties and such.

Appreciate the info.
