Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I was driving in the 3/4 ton to pick up a sink & vanity yesterday & I noticed that the gas gauge was only less than a 1/4 tank. I had over 1/2 a tank the day before. I got home & found gasoline on the white rock where I park it. So I crawled under & found that the rubber gas line from the tank was kaput. Replaced & all is good except for losing about $20 worth of gas. At least it was an easy fix. I love easy fixes. Oh yeah, I also put windshield sealer up on the driver's side upper corner where I found that it was leaking the other day when I was driving on the highway in the rain. I don't think I had done that much with this truck, because I hadn't noticed it before.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Started to put the bedwood back onto the truck ( what a pain in the ass ) I must of made 200 trips up and down trying to set everything another set of hands would of made it much easier and then I noticed that i am one small bed bolt and one large bed bolt too short.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

When you get to the "punch card", you're well on your way! I've been watching your build and it's really nice to see you working towards the ultimate realization of your plans and dreams. All too often people give up on their projects...doesn't look like that's happening here. Keep after it, we are watching and you are providing a lot of motivation for some of the other builders. Thanks, and good luck. It won't be long now! don

I finally got around to replacing this POS upper bed trim piece with a nicer one I bought in the Parts Board.

Nice driver quality. I had to straighten it a little, fill a couple of holes, and repaint it.

I drove around breaking in a new 454. Just got it installed and running last week. Does anyone have an opinion on break-in? Should I baby it or drive it like I stole it?

First of all, sorry for your loss Jason, I lost my father when he was a very young 51 to cancer. It is a rotten disease. Keep his memory alive and know he will always be proud of you.

It may be late to mention this or maybe you are aware but the most important is the first 20 minutes while breaking in the cam. It is important to valve train life.

They say go easy for the first 500 miles and I think if it is going to break it will with in the first 50 no matter how you drive it.

Good Luck, Have Fun and Happy Holidays

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I want to drive my truck ... but problem : new battery, new regulator, but same issue, low battery after some miles. it seems to me that battery passes off by driving, not in the stop !
any idea ?
is it possible that the starter puts itself in short circuit and empties the battery by driving ? I drive only by the day, and just after 10 miles, good new battery is empty

thanks for help

Factory gauges or any add ons?

Sounds like the alternator/regulator are not adjusted correctly

It would be good to see what the differences in the voltage are while driving or what is coming out of the alternator.

As mentioned a small multimeter check across the battery terminals to watch your voltage draw/changes at RPMs is a quick easy way to go.

Also are you required to drive with your lights on all the time over there?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Made this out of stuff from around the house. It's gonna ger a piano hinge and some magnetic "keep it closed" and a hidden "opener".

I made it to house a bucks-up Pioneer electronics set up that used to be mine and my friend is giving back. DVD player, Nav, etc. I'll also punch
holes in the "door" for a white faced clock and a manifold vacuum gauge, I think.

Not sure if I'll do it or not, but I'm also always looking for a smart place for Mr. Smith to ride.

I HATE digging around with a spagetti dinner of wiring in close quarters.. So, I'll be able to open the door and get at everything.
