My little brother just bought a 2005 chevy 2500 with a 6.0. The truck had a oil change about a week before he bought it and about a week later the add oil light came on, so we added oil thinking maybe the lube placed messed up. So about two weeks later he had to add about 5 more quarts again. The truck isn't leaking anywhere and doesn't smoke. Could it be burning that much oil and not smoke bad?

That's a lot of oil loss. If you have no oil mess under the truck then it's time to start checking the engine. Do a compression check, your looking for around 190 to 220 PSI but the key is all cylinders should be with in 10% of each other. You may also want to check your PCV valve, it may be stuck open. Pull it from the valve cover, if you shake it, you should hear it rattle as the check ball moves. If not it may be stuck open allowing oil to be sucked into the intake. I would exspect a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust burning that much oil but it's possible it's being burned or stored in your catalytic converters.

Pull the Driver/Left Valve Cover, Check for Sludge blocking the drain back holes.

An '05 does not have a PCV valve, It has a Fixed Orifice built into the Left Valve Cover, Inspect the Baffle for Sludge/Carbon build up.
