1979 Chevy C30 SRW "Project Charlie"

Well here we go!!!!
Im starting this build tread so I can document this build and so you guys can see it too!!!.
This is not my first build have done plenty of chevy trucks in the past just thought I would document thisone
Its a 1979 Chevy C-30 SRW that was bought by my Uncle Charlie in March of 1979 at Sam Cummins Chevrolet in Paris,Ky
It was used as a farm truck all its life and in 1996 he had it re done and the flat bed put on as you can see from the pics the body hasnt held up very good. Its has little over 50,000 orginal miles on it.
Question of the day has been mainly from the wife and I quote "WHAT ARE YA GONNA DO WITH THAT THING AND WHY DO WE NEED ANOTHER TRUCK"
To answer question #1
-I have no idea but it was a family truck and single wheel tons are cool!!!
To answer question #2
Yes we already have 5 trucks and a tahoe so whats another one gonna hurt!!

Here are a few pics I took when I picked it up this last Saturday January19, 2012

I'm going low and fast with mine. Maybe one day I'll grow up and do something different, just not now

Re: 1979 Chevy C30 SRW "Project Charlie"

Why not leave the flatbed on it? Narrow it to the width of the cab, and shorten it to a good length. Then you can put the wood back on it.

Re: 1979 Chevy C30 SRW "Project Charlie"

Some more pics of Charlie seems my other ones have disappeared

Interior shot years of farm work!!!

Front shot aftermarket hood and fenders that where put on in 1996 are junk.... god bless taiwan junk!!!

Under hood........ I know the motor was replaced in 1996 but the oil fill makes it look like it came out of a van.............. was that stock on trucks too?

Radio delete plate have never seen one of these in a square I thought they all came atleast with a am radio?

Re: 1979 Chevy C30 SRW "Project Charlie"

Hopefully this weekend I will get something done on this project tried to start it two weeks ago and it wouldnt go thing run fine when I parked it so I dumped some fuel down the carb and it fired right up and ran till the gas run out. So first thing on my list is fuel pump and it seems like every truck I bring in has this issue so I always keep one on the shelf for that reason.
Should have some new pics up this weekend.

Re: 1979 Chevy C30 SRW "Project Charlie"

Here are a couple pics of the wifes 84 K20.
Was built in 2000 hit two horses and was built again in 2004 thats when the lift went on here recently had it in the shop for carb intake fuel pump and heater core she has only put 5,000 miles on it since we got it done in 2000, this work was all done by father-inlaw wife and myself
Hope yall like it!!!

My 48 chevy 3100 to match her K-20 LOL!!

The brown truck you see in the background of the 48 is a 86 GMC 1500 was 3/4 ton swapped to 1/2 ton with 355 and a built 350 turbo
