Cool Re: Most/Least Favorite Modifications/Upgrades

Mine Are:

most favorite:
swapping out the rusted big window non A/C cab for a small window A/C cab(that I immediately changed to a non A/C cab) hard to find rust free cabs around Nebraska now a days

Swapping the small hump for a manual transmission high hump

Finding and NOS bedside step and installing it

Finding a Day 2 NOS grill both inner and outer for $35 and upgrading the original 1970 average faded and dinged grill with the day 2 NOS one

Least favorite:
Swapping the 4 wheel manual drum brakes to 4 wheel power disc brakes because I didn't realize I had to get new wheels to retain that stock look so I have the stock drum wheels powder coated white lol as well as new stock looking wheels (if I'd known now what I didn't then I would've not powder coated the stock rims lol)

Just read your build thread, incredible! I have seen quite a few crew cabs but most are lowered or near stock height. I think it looks a lot better raised up a bit. I am in the camp of SWB = lower, LWB = stock or higher.

Re: Most/Least Favorite Modifications/Upgrades

Good idea for a thread. I may have to update this from time to time as I have plenty of things on the to do list. The WMB thread below covers most of the list.

Favorites:
Gary Tayman radio conversion (and the plate to cover the PO's hacking a hole for a DIN)
Head liner installation (It gets way more complements than I ever could have imagined)
Wiper delay and fuel pump controller from Revolution Electronics
The paint color (All the agonizing was worth it in the end)
Switching from 3:07's to stock 3:73's

Least favorite:
Air bags!!!!
Aftermarket front fenders
Dual needle guages for the air bags
Windshield washer pump conversion. (Pump needs to be at the tank)

Re: Most/Least Favorite Modifications/Upgrades

cebra,

Absolutely a great idea for a new thread. Thanks!!!!!

I am a pretty new owner of a 72 Jimmy.
So this thread has already been very helpful to me.
Things to consider, ones to be wary of, etc.
A good example is Gary Tayman radios, conversions.

Thank you to all have posted.
Us newbies are paying attention.

Re: Most/Least Favorite Modifications/Upgrades

I love the headlight relay mod too, super cheap and effective. If you put miles on your truck, I don't see how you could deal with not having intermittent wipers (maybe I am just spoiled by modern vehicles). I drove once from PA to NC in a drizzly rain and I kept one hand on the wheel and one hand on the wiper knob. I thought I was going to wear that thing out before I made it home turning it off and on every 10 seconds for 6 hours straight.
