Am I missing a bushing

Where the automatic trans linkage connects to the steering column, mine is sloppy should there be a bushing at this connection? Thanks guys!

Not sure about bushings, but look at the rod to see if it is worn the hell out. It is usually fairly obvious when a rod or hole is worn out.

Should be a plastic bushing in there. I'm not sure but I think the same bushing was used up into square body years, maybe even further

There are quite a few pieces that go in there. Using the picture at bottom left, starting at the bottom: adjustment bolt/clamp (on the rod), Adjustment bolt cupped washer, metal or plastic sleeve, rubber grommet, shifter arm, washer, lock washer, & nut.

The rubber grommet fits inside the shifter arm and the metal or plastic sleeve fits inside the rubber grommet.
