Wood floor question on longbed
Do you place bolts in all holes? I took this apart 10 years ago and vaguely remember the bolts were not in every hole.
Any pics of original wood beds for reference? Thanks! |

Mine is not original, but i believe that there was a hole or two that were not used in the old bed

If you're referring to the Squre cut hole (on both sides) just in front of the wheelwells? I've wondered the same. My bed is unmolested so I would have to assume they were there for the numerous options from the factory. There is no hole drilled in the wood, so there's be ever been a bolt in it. The quirky thing about these trucks is that the "bosses" for every imaginable option, (to include left or right hand drive) are on all original components.

Longhorn or longbed? The longhorn has extra bolts and I wound up with two kits!

Mine is a 68,C-10 longbed with the optional wood bed and there no extra holes in it.

I think I will leave the one bolt out in front of the wheel we'll. I remembered there was at least one not drilled. Before I drill this new piece of wood, I wanted to be sure.
Probably no harm in placing bolts in all holes, but wanted it to be like it was originally. Dave, I may need a couple bolts from your extras

That extra hole in the bed flange may have been for the in-bed spare tire bracket.

Mine had one or 2 holes without bolts on each side between the wheel wells and front bed panel that did not have bolts. I don't remember which, but I'm almost positive the two holes immediately in front of the wheel wells had bolts in them. I also put bolts in all holes when I replaced the wood. Just looks better. I ordered more bolts from Mar-K.
