Don't you hate...

...when you buy something and then it's out of stock? My wife and I recently celebrated our 37th anniversary. We decided to splurge, since we're at a point in life where we can afford it. She wanted a really deluxe Bosch dishwasher. I found it online and purchased it. I got the purchase confirmation online, and then a message that it was out of stock and might be shipped in 6 weeks.

My wife bought me a Softopper for my Blazer. I just got an email that it's out of stock and won't ship until late in May...

I guess this won't be a case of instant gratification.

Re: Don't you hate...

Seems everything is out of stock. I've been waiting on truck parts for 4 weeks and date just keeps getting pushed back.

Friend had ordered exhaust and finally got it after waiting 12 weeks...

Re: Don't you hate...

It is annoying. Especially the fact that someone is selling something that is out of stock.

I recently bought some 1 Shot paint from Eastwood. Then I got a email saying it was out of stock and it would be at least a month.

No big deal for me. It would probably sit in my garage for that long as fast as I work.

To my surprise it showed up 2 weeks later.

And it is still sitting in my garage unopened. My enthusiasm is now on backorder. No ETA.

I ordered a rhino shelter 24x30 . They cancelled the order so I wouldn't be charged but have all the info so in 4 to 6 weeks I have to call back to authorize the purchase

have you tried Home Depot?
we bought our dishwasher there last yr, was a toss-up between the Bosch and the LG, since it's the wifey's toy, i let her pick, she got the LG. can't belive how quiet the new dishwashers are. our old one sounded like it was going for a walk across the kitchen floor..
only thing is you can't take it home, they deliver it, got it in 2 days

The one she wants is the Bosch 800. Her big thing is that she wants the plastics to be absolutely dry when they come out, and it's the only one that guarantees that. Home Depot was actually the first place I looked, but they said it was out of stock and they couldn't tell me when it would be back in stock. Now their website says they can deliver by May 4, so I'll call the other company on Monday and see if they're going to ship it by then, and if they can't I'll cancel the order and go back to HD.

I'm in part's prison elect. & A/C so I get it. You might check out Z-line for dishwashers, though I kinda' know the owners Word is good parts less price, bells and whistles. Personally dishwashers to me means a dish rack, hasn't worked many years But then I'm a bachelor.

Re: Don't you hate...

My fancy pants computerized Samsung dryer just took a dump on me for the 4th time in two years. I'm sick of it.

I'm dumping this washer and dryer and buying used old school ones. Nothing fancy. I like the old stuff better. The new ones are expensive junk.

I need to do it quick before I start to smell bad.....Whoops...Too late.

We're still running a w/d that I bought used from a neighbor about 15 yrs ago.

He got married and they both had appliances so he sold one set to me.

So far so good except I had to replace those agitator pawls once, and I guess the dryer timer acts funky sometimes.

A few years ago the fridge that we bought new about 20 years ago quit. Called a guy out and it was the part that protects it after a power outage that finally gave up after years of the power going off and on. About $160 part and labor I think.

Re: Don't you hate...

Yeah, I like the old stuff much better. The things they have to do to get Energy Star qualified makes the newer machines really finicky. I've got two old driers that get new belts or igniters every 10 or 15 years and just keep running. When the washing machine developed a leak two years ago my wife wanted a new one. We're on our second one now. It's an LG that periodically will just keep running and not go through a cycle. The fix is easy enough; I remove the control panel and whack a specific solenoid with a screwdriver handle and it works fine for a couple more months. Why not replace the solenoid? Because the entire circuit board is epoxied.

That's why I'm going back to the old stuff. My washer/dryer fix it guy came by and he has a set of old Speed Queens that he has just gone through. I told him "Sold'. Haul that Samsung junk away. The only drag is that the dryer is 220V. I'm going to have to do some electrical work. Nothing is ever easy.

Re: Don't you hate...

.

The wifey and I got a refund on a 6 year old Samsung French door fridge ( 2800 bucks ) recently after we found a facebook group dedicated to these crappy fridges...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1520337151601316

There was ( and still is ) a class action lawsuit against Samsung for these particular ice boxes because of a bad design flaw that results in inoperable features/functions.

The facebook group guides owners through the process of forcing Samsung to refund their purchase price for these units.

No more Samsung for me whether it's an appliance or something else ( TV and A/V equipment ).

Re: Don't you hate...

The pandemic has screwed up the supply chain pretty much around the world. So much for a "Global Economy" being a good thing. Manufacturing is held up by lockdowns, then the raw materials/supplies needed for other products slow things down when workers return. Add to it that some products can't be shipped because of the lack of containers.
Then some jackass gets a cargo ship stuck in the Suez Canal and makes it worse. Now it is being held up by the government of Egypt to get the owners to pay the fines. 916 million last I heard.
I wonder what happens when all of the stuff hits the market?

Trouble is they claim the tire is no good after six years even if it's not worn out.

I've been putting off buying new tires for my "ranch" pickup because I want to get something different for that purpose, but they are getting awful rotten. It's hard putting ~$1000 worth of tires on maybe a $1500 pickup, but I did finally get the steering fixed.

Thanks for the reminder I probably need a wash machine, due my 15-17 yr. LG front load sounds like a jet plane on spin. Maybe I'll see if someone can fix it, though last I knew nobody around here works on LG.

My dryer was part of the set, it starts manually like a prop on ancient airplanes. That's how I knew nobody worked on these, 12-13 years ago
Beyond that these are built like Toyotas I suppose.

Re: Don't you hate...

Older style washer/dryers like kenmore, whirlpool, etc are all the same thing and use the same parts. They are easy to work on and repair. I have 2 sets of each, do laundry daily due to having 6 people in the household. I’ve repaired all of them several times over the years but the parts are cheap and they last a long time, and the problems are easy to diagnose. Every time I see one out on someone’s curb I pick it up and gut the parts out for spares

You can buy the bearings and seal(s) and rent the puller/installer off the internet. For my Maytag, it was $160 including postage both ways, but with my hands, it's out of the question. The dryer probably only needs a "start" capacitor, which is an easy fix, if the thing isn't soldered to the circuit board.

Well geez, $900 later I bought an LG, but you can bet it won't last 15 years. Downside is nobody local to work on LG.

I did call Sears repair but canceled. Man they asked all the relevant questions, simple automation, and then came COVID, where they asked 7-8 additional questions, and then explained how I'll need a mask and stuff.

Thanks for the info though, I kind of like starting my dryer manually though, duct tape on the button and fire away, even operates when it's open I feel the pain too, my thumbs are a wreck.

With assys, the guide accts for 1000s of OEM identifications and part numbers, all written in short order. 700+ images include assm, illust., charts, and points of interest. Much of the info. applies to all 67-72 GM trucks, and to a lessor degree all 67-72 GM vehicles. My build thread, and more on the guide https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=730025

Re: Don't you hate...

I went to Subway today and they only had wheat bread. They were out of everything else. I hate wheat bread. So I passed. No sandwich for me.

How does a sandwich shop run out of bread?? Isn't that their job??

The girl at the counter seemed like she could care less. One less sandwich for her to make.
