Pics of my new 91

just got my new burb... selling old 76 GMC 1500
this burb is a 91 R2500 (3/4 ton), 454 TBI...

edit: also i have a question... looking around the boards, I've noticed a few 89-91 burbs but each of them has a different front end, most have the dual headlight setup but only mine and two others have the single headlight setup. I know mine is stock but i am wondering what they did to have some 89-91s with the single headlight and the rest with the dual headlight setup. i dont see any rhyme or reason with it as one is 4x4 2500, one is 4x2 1500, mine is 4x2 R2500...

Your sub is missing the Silverado badges. That's one reason. The quad lights were an option. I like having them on my truck.

That's the same grille arrangment as my '91 - Cheyenne trim.

What does yours have for options? My Cheyenne has *none*, unless you want to call radio-delete an option

IMO, the practicality & lifespan of a base model truck is much greater. I wish my Burb had as few options as the crewcab... 'de-optioning' is what I do now each time something fails. Maybe I'm weird

mine has the Scottsdale badges right behind the back doors and in front of the long side/rear windows...
as for options mine has cruise, aftermarket Blaupunkt cd player but not sure if it works cuz the speakers are dead, AC, CB/radio antenna mount on the top center of the roof, barn doors, feul injection and thats about it

Just picked my 1991 up on Monday. 1500 4WD. Mine is an ex-government vehicle. Really plane jane Scottsdale model, with single headlights.

Cry me a river

The Scottsdale is lavishly equipped compared to the Cheyenne.

Ditch the hub caps and install a set of the newer 8 lug aluminum wheels. They look good on these old subs. Check out this 3/4 ton truck with the aluminum wheels on it.

I have to agree with you on that.Having alot of options is nice as far as comfort goes, but when they stop working it is a major pita. For a truck that spends lots of time off road I rather have one with 0 options (except maybe a decent stereo). My burb is a loaded silverado, but if I build my crewcab it is going to be carbureted,4speed standard with no air or pw pl or cruise.
Mind you it might be nice to have power windows and locks so I don`t have to reach across the seat and air would keep the dust out on the bush roads.... lol

is this the one you were talking about?

the only options mine really has is cruise (which i dont think it works), AC (which freezes me within 3 minutes), OD and aftermarket CD... unless you call front and rear bench seats (no 3rd row) an option.
plain rims, no PL, no PW or much anything else... i have noticed that the back doors have an auto lock on it, you have to turn the key and hold it turned to open the barn doors. Once i turn it to default position it locks. I actually prefer this as a security measure but it struck me as slightly strange, all others had a standard door lock rod on it.

Paint the steel wheels body color and add chrome lug nuts. Its a timeless classic.

possible brake problem

was looking at the rims today and they are already the exact same silver as on my burb... after driving it around now for a few weeks, the cruise doesn't work but everything seems to be hooked up properly, the AC works awesome, havent messed with the rear suspension bags yet...
i am thinking one or both of the rear brakes arent letting go properly when i release the brake pedal. Once the truck is warmed up, when i let off the brakes from a dead stop and hit the gas, i get a thump from the rear end as if they are letting go. If i do a california rolling stop then it doesnt do it.

Speaking of wheels. I saw the coolest GM bolt on the other day. A local 55-57 car restorer put on some H2 wheels on his suburban!!! He did not have the center cap off a H2 though. Instead, he machined the center to fit a stock dog dish center cap with the gold bowtie. He then used the special nuts so the cap could screw on. The two wheel drive sub looks like a 4X4 going down the road with such HUGE wheels on it!! It look awsome. He bought the H2 wheels for less than $100 each.

this is a dumb question but as i have looked all over on my burb, where is the feul filter, i got a canister type from AutoZone and i thought it was right in front of the TBI... but this canister is huge compared to the others ones i've seen, the rest have been small 1 1/2 - 2" long this thing is like 4+" long and 1 1/2-2" diamater...
hope they got me the right one...

Usually inside the frame rail underneath the truck somewhere near the fuel tank iirc.

ok i crawled underneath there and found it tucked into the frame right below where the front and rear passenger doors meet... dumped gas all over my arm but got 'r' done..
on initial test drive seems the slight hesitation that i was getting from dead stop is gone but i will see if the 50-55mph hesitation is still there tomorrow on my way to work.
looked like basic 1/2 pipe thread, needed 5/8 and 13/16 (or was it 7/8) wrench...
piece by piece i'm learning

thanks, the only problrm is a majority of their parts are for 305s/350s whereas i have a 454 Tonawanda... i know the tuning info will work but the parts are limited (as is with most anywhere else too).
