Re: Project '86

Nothing new, been saving to build a shop and I'm finally checking the box on that goal. Hope to have it up and ready by end of February and then I will be back on the truck.

Re: Project '86

A shop! What do you need one of those for! All it will end up doing is causing you to spend more time away from your family and doind stuff that you like! It will probably cause you to spend more money getting tools and equipment and things like that as well!

Are you sure you've thought this thing through?

You are one lucky dog! Post us some pics OK!

There you went and made me start drooling. What I wouldn't give for a 30 x 30, preferably one with an upstairs that I could stay in and leave the house for the fam!

Be sure to check out Garage Journal... They have a lot of good tips and tricks that might help you save money on your place. Highly recommended because I want to see this awesome truck finished!

Re: Project '86

First off, suiciding the doors is not for beginners. There is a lot of fabrication involved.

Now to answer your question, since my doors are shaved I have installed bear claw latches with actuators. I have a remote key fob to pop the doors. No handles so no need for locks anymore.

Random question that I have always wondered... what happens when your doors are opened via key fob/ actuators and your battery dies with the doors closed on a vehicle that has an in cab hood release?

If you have not planned ahead then you have problems. Most people either run remote battery terminals to jump it off or you can run wires from one of your door solenoids to a strategic location and pop the door with a 9v battery.

With what you've done out in the elements I can't imagine what you'll get accomplished indoors. Congratulations on the shop man.

Re: Project '86

They are not wasting any time. Are they going to pour the floor after the building is done?

Re: Project '86

Yea, the floor is next. Nothing scheduled yet but it will be next week. Once the floor is poured they wait about a week for it to cure then they will be back to finish it up.

Awesome! Congrats man. If you don't mind me asking, what does a shop that size set a guy back? I'd like to build one some day.
