Frame vin number

I just bought this frame and need to find out what year it is. This number is on the drivers side top of frame 22100257.... this number is drivers side, side of the frame rail 3998723 260x 7 25 11.....

Doesn't look like a partial VIN to me.

It should be something like HF123456, where

H, or some number, would be the model year designation

F, or B, or J, or R, or 1 (for Oshawa) would be the assembly plant code

123456 = sequential portion of VIN

3998723 looks like a part number, so you might be able to get at it that way.

Roughly what generation or model year do you think this frame is? (ie, 67-72, 73-87 or newer? older?)

For your year it should be stamped on top of the frame rail about even with the drivers door. You might need a mirror to see it.

So in the picture above (off the top of my head):

0 = 1970 model year
Z = Fremont
148678 = sequential portion of VIN

Frankinstienracer - I'd be looking for a stamping with that format

Could that be 2Z100257?

That would make it a 1972 frame out of Fremont.
