Cool Crossmember broken

My "father" broke the crossmember that holds the proportion valve, not sure how he managed to do that but it's really done for...seriously every time I go work on the truck I'm always finding something else he's done, hard to get over anger when it's always something new to irritate you...I digress.

I've searched online to buy a replacement, not really sure the correct term because everything turns up but that. My suburban has a solid piece unit, I would like to use the same to replace the one on the truck. Are these sold new, because square bodies in the yards are like finding a unicorn.

As always sincere thanks for you advice, it via greatly appreciated!

Re: Crossmember broken

I have see then hit and bent up before by folks that run them in the fields and all. My guess would be look in a junkyard for one and grind/chiesel the rivets out, then put it in your dad's with grade 8 bolts.

Mine had a similar crack. Vice-grip'ed it back together, tacked it, welded it up, 20 years now and haven't had a problem with it since then.

Re: Crossmember broken

My Dad's 83 has the same x-member with the large holes in it. His cracked when the steering box started to come loose. Cracked around the steering box also. Check it out, and check the box bolts also
