Cowl hoods take away from the natural lines of our 67-72 trucks. Just my .02 cents.

Have you checked out Unlimited Products? They are located in So. Cal. out in the high desert. My brother purchased one of their cowl hoods for a V8 Luv truck that he built. He was happy with the hood, but then he built it for drag racing and not a show truck. Their addy is up22.com

Re: Cowl hoods for a 72 gmc

I have always loved cowl hoods. I would never put one on my current 68 but I would love to get a shortbed 68 and get a 4 inch cowl hood on it. I think just about anything under 4 inches just looks stupid.

Thats a great price but I'm leaning towards LMC because it come installed with a "Bug Catcher Screen" that I REALLY like the looks of.

P.S. Don't tell me I can make my own, because I'm an inept retard when it comes to ANY type of Fabrication!

They all have that screen. I would be more concerned about the manufacturer. There are a few companies stampig these out. WES

Re: Cowl hoods for a 72 gmc

Wes,
Yes they may all have the screens, but LMC was the ONLY ONE to show it.
No one else had it in their Pictures or their Descriptions.
If that be the case, then they should update it, because I'm ready to buy one on MONDAY!

So I had my Cowl Hood shipped directly to my Mechanic, (20 miles away).
He opened the very top and already noted 3 Dents that are 2"-3" in Diameter.
I called LMC, but unfortunatly I'm on the Left Coast and they're only there untill 4PM (PDT), so I'll have to call back tomorrow.
My Mechanic noted it on the Bill Of Lading and I'm going down tomorrow to take pictures of the damage.

So from MY perspective, they need to:
1) Ship a replacement Hood IMMEDIATLY, and not
wait for this one to be returned.

2)Give me $$ in refund for fixing the Hood, (and NOT a "Credit" off my next purchase).

So my NEXT question will be, has anyone had a similar problem with a Hood or Body Panel from LMC (or any other Manufacterer) and what was YOUR problem and the outcome?

Roger

Well I went down in person and checked out the hood.
Its NOT as bad as my Mechanic led me to believe.
I mean.....I'm going to have Bodywork done to the Truck anyway, and there's no gaurentee that a "Replacement Hood" is going to be in any better shape.
At this point I just want it on the Truck.
Told my Mechanic to "make it happen".

So LMC calls me and gave me the option of:
1) Sending out a New Cowl Hood without waiting for THIS one to ship back.
2) A COMPLETE refund after they receive the Dented Hood Back.
3) Take it to a Body Shop, and get an Estimate and they'll send me $$ for the repairs.

They don't do "Credits" anymore as it was to much of a Paper Trail to keep track of how much "Running Credit" a Customer has.

So I chose to take Option #3 from above.

Now the unexpected pleasure of the day, was my Wife stopping by to take a couple of pictures of my Truck with the new Cowl Hood installed.
Our Mechanic is 15 Miles down the Hill from our House, but my Wife has to gas-up her Patrol Car, and drive right by there!
She sent me the 2 attached pictures this afternoon while I was at Home.\
I TOTALLY SH**T MY PANTS!
On one of the pictures, I had to do a little Photoshopping to get rid of the "Reflection" on the Front End.
