292 lower radiator hose ???

To those running 250-292 inline what are you using for lower hose? Ive got two from NAPA and neither one even come close to fitting. Im purty sure someone has the answer Input greatly appreciated. BTW Ive got the four core HD radiator

I have a 292 L6. I'm running a Gates 20489 as my lower radiator hose. Fits great.

Well I should have been more specific in my query about the lower hose I am running a 4 core radiator, my lower outlet is outside the frame and a 3 core is directly on top of the frame. So evidently there is a different hose for this app, the Gates 20489 is the same as NAPA 7352 If I put the hose on the Radiator outlet it lacks approx 3 inches of going on the WP. So hope someone can offer a part number for the hose I cant seem to find. Thanks for you time and assistance

I was never too proud to use a generic flex hose if it would get me to work the next day.
Maybe they sold you a car radiator with a short lower neck?
A Truck radiator has a neck that's 1'' long, + a 45* bend up and 2" more ending in a barb.

Show a picture. Unless you have factory AC brackets in the way, that 20489 should work for either radiator. A 20686 hose is for AC and is about 6" longer with extra bends.

The rad is a genuine 67-72 copper side tank with the correct lower outlet. As I said the 3 core outlet is directly over the frame rail the 4 core is on the outside of the frame rail and with the hose on the lower outlet of the rad its 3 inches short of connecting to the WP. I have no AC in place at this time and that all mounts above the WP. Getting pics is a pain I dont have one of them space gordon phones

If the outlet was completely outside the frame rail, it would be rubbing against the battery box. Is it setting down in the rubber pads correctly?
My old 3 core was the same width, left-to-right as my new aluminum radiator. I had to get longer metal retainers and longer rubber pads for the increased thickness.

Are you placing the longer end of the hose on the WP?

Have someone take a picture and email it to you. You should then be able to post it here. I actually find it's easier to do with a digital camera than a cell phone, but that's me.

OK I was wrong on the 3 core rad outlet being on top of the frame rail it is more to the outside of the rail but the 4 core is even further as you can see in the pic however with the 20489 lower hose attached to the lower outlet it still will not reach the water pump without MAJOR distortion. It has been suggested that the four core HD rad was not an option on six cyl trucks IDN. And before anyone says I need to rotate the hose BS tried that aint happinin the fitment get worse the hose is in a relaxed position you dont force anything to fit it either fits or it dont and this is pretty obvious this dont fit! I've got a msg into GMC Paul and will be talking to Frank Hamm (Franks Pickumups) and Wess Hepp(Classic Heartbeat) Thanks again for all the input.

The thing is, stock L6 radiators were about 3'' less wide than V8 radiators. I don't think you can get 'em anymore. I had to move my brackets out to the wider position and convert to the V8 style... Besides the logistical benefit of a readily available part, there is increased cooling.
Also, even in Southern Arizona -- with +110F summer temps normal -- I've been OK with a 3 tier core, a V8 one. And a FlexFan.
The stated Gates 20489 hose fits my 292. My operating temp is about 185 - 190F.
Hope you find a longer hose.

In 2011 you posted this with a Caddy engine. What did you use for engine mounts?
Do I have the right person with the right truck? I am thinking this may have something to do with the problem are now having.

Here's my working 292. Orange Stepside is a DD again.
BTW RichardJ, do you have the Gates #s for the upper hose. Only the number 14 [or partial zero 4] remain on my hose.

That has evolved[ATTACH][/ATTACH] 425 Cad mounts uses the thin clam shell

The hose issue is with the 292 6
